How do people make a bare ground border around landscape beds without effecting the plants and stuff in the beds. I heard something about using a rosebud torch off a propane tank, don’t know about that. Wife would prefer that I don’t burn the house landscaping up

I’ve just used a shovel to dig and form a slightly recessed trench border along landscape beds. Then either spray glyphosate or use a weed eater in the recessed trench to keep the lawn grass from encroaching into the landscape bed, or pull the runners by hand.

And which begs the age old question, why does centipede grass that grows so slowly in the lawn proper to fill in bare/thin spots, seem to grow about a foot a day along landscape beds sending in runners into beds that constantly need to be spayed, cut or pulled. LOL.

Can use a shovel as mentioned,
I used a manual edger - to define my edges and just maintain with weed eater. Know where your cable lines are...I cut mine doing this

They also make a powered tool called a bed redefiner that helps make the deep cuts pretty easily as well.

Turn your string trimmer over like and edger. Work it back and forth 3-4 inches as you make your way around the landscape border. Then make a final pass cleaning up the new edge. Spray that area you edged out with roundup.
