why use scoreboards?

Whenever a lot of incoming posts are expected to a TigerDroppings board, a scoreboard is created and the original board is closed. I never understood why, unless you just didn't want the original board to get cluttered up with all the useless threads that are sure to be created.
Is there a more technical explanation? Just curious.

Because good legit threads get buried with lots of bullshite threads like "frick this"... "Nana nana"... "Our team is so STACKKED"
The scoreboard allows for tards to tard without having much impact on the original forum.

it think it simply has to do with them trying to handle the large increase volume of traffic on the site. Having a board dedicated to the game only helps them keep the servers in check.
