I posted it the other day and in a few days it got the "ADMIN: Your avatar pic is inappropriate" message.

So I checked it and it turns out it was 89k... over the 30k limit.

So I grabbed some software and resized it... now I think it's like 9k.

But today I got another similar message. What's wrong with it? I'll fix.

This is the image.

Thanks in advance, admins!

You're not important enough to have a gif for an avatar.

Animated avatars wil encourage other users to turn to hardcore drugs and dancing with hooved animals.

Actually, I didn't. Here are the rules for avatars taken directly from the Settings" page where you enter them

quote:

Do not use any copyrighted images in these fields without permission of the copyright owner(s)

Signature and avatar images must be hosted on an approved image hosting site. At this time, the following sites are approved: photobucket.com, flickr.com, imgur.com and tinypic.com.

Signature and avatar images must not be larger than 30 kbytes (30,000 bytes) in size. To determine the size of an image, right-click on the image and go to properties.

Says nothing about animation.

I've been around here for 11 years and I know I have seen several animated avatars over the years.. favorite one was heypaul's dude that was blowing the swirling galaxy of smoke.

It would be an easy upgrade to add "No animated gifs" to the three rules above.

11 years and don't know how to find the Guidelines/FAQ section?

LINK

quote:

Q: Are there any requirements for avatar and signature images?

A: Images should be approximately 30 Kbytes in size. Anything larger than that causes threads to load up slowly. Avatars should be no more than 150 pixels in height and 150 pixels in width. Signature images should be no more than 150 pixels in height and 400 pixels in width. To view an image's pixel size, right-click on the images and go to Properties. The dimensions are shown as width by height. Animated images are not allowed.
