seriously...had you clicked on the site more than 10 times today before it happened?

Yes....700 might have been a stretch

But between moving between boards, making posts, and refreshing I have probably clicked over 100 times.

It seems like it happened to everyone at the same time IMO

I was on the OT and I'm pretty sure it happened after 5 clicks. It popped up out of nowhere, and it happened twice. I believe it was around 10 or so this morning the first time. I'm looking at the results of the scan, but I'm not sure what one of the things is.

I'm a lurker, and it happened to me about 20-30 minutes ago. This was the first time I had come to the board today, and it was from a bookmark to the O-T Lounge, and it happened almost instantly.

It redirected me to an address (can't remember, sorry) that was a .info site. The Virus Dr. or something like that was the name of the product. It asked if I wanted a free scan, when I cancelled out it supposedly ran a system scan anyway that only took about five seconds so it could've been flash for all I know. I did get a message from my browser that said Windows had prevented the site from downloading files to my computer. Every time I tried to close the window, it said a system crash was at risk, so I didn't want to click either cancel or OK so I went to task manager and shut it down from there.

I have Trend Micro Antivirus, and I ran a quick scan (I'll probably run a full scan now) and it only turned up one ad cookie.

Hope this information helps to find out what's going on.

You need to go to malwarebytes.org and downloand and run the free version...you may have malware on your computer...please do that and let me know if it finds anything.

I've ran that on all the computers and have found nothing

Just to update, I did run a full system scan and it also found nothing. Do I need to do anything else, or is Trend Micro reliable enough that I'm reasonably safe?

EDIT: Also I should note that all of the normal banner ads at the top of the screen are blank. I'm getting one every few refreshes for a car sales event, but the normal ones that always appear apparently aren't loading. Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not but thought I'd mention it.

you need to download malwarebytes...many virus scanners won't fully clean your computer...go here and download the free version...and do a full scan...

I downloaded the malwarebytes free program, ran the full scan, and it turned up two "registry data" malware items. The vendor names were:

Hijack.DisplayProperties
Hijack.StartMenu

I removed both, hopefully that's the end of it.

I haven't had the problem again today after running the malwarebytes program. It didn't detect anything serious yesterday.
