Well they're not gonna straight say no in case it ever makes sense. For now it doesn't considering how poorly the music board has gone, why risk that again?

If it's not planned, they could simply say so - "There are currently no plans for a Tech Board." End of story. Hopefully, though, that's not the case.

As mentioned, I don't think that music necessarily provides a platform for consistent, engaging discussions. It's somewhat of a one dimensional topic. Many of the threads seem to be some variation of, "Do you like this artist/band/group", or "What are you listening to?"

Repeatedly on the OT, we see multi page threads discussing Android vs iOS, new laptops, HDTVs, Windows vs OSX, broadband, computers, router help, Verizon/AT&T/Sprint, and so forth. Just like politics, technology provides an opportunity for engaging, in-depth discussions. Every major news outlet has a dedicated section just for tech related news. It's a dynamic topic, with tech related topics making headlines on a daily basis.

I think it would be a bit of a stretch to suggest that a tech board would fair as poorly, in terms of activity, as the music board.

Cs - What is your end game here? You get a Tech Board, then what? Do you want to become an Admin there? If so, you have my vote dude.

How do you find time to put all this together? Obviously you are good at data analytics, website design and content management and such. Have you tried to look at any of these as a career option?

p.s. You need to get into "Big Data". You seem like the perfect person for such a role. I bet you already know about this field. So I don't have to tell you that Big Data is the hottest shite right now in the Tech world, along with Cloud computing and related services.

It's going to be hilarious when a tech board is created and Cs is banned for having an alter.

Did you see how I arrived at that conclusion?

2008 -2011 (first half) - ~3.5 years at the time the Music Board was confirmed.

2010 - present - ~3.5 years.

The traffic on this site more than trippled in that time so I would expect the requests for a tech board to be signifigantly higher than the requests for the music board in the same time frame.

...but it didn't and that means there is less demand for a tech board per capita than for the music board.

A valid point, certainly. However, that point works because our data frame for music board requests was encumbered in 2011 when the board was confirmed to be in the works. Such an announcement would certainly slow the production of request threads.

Yet, if we normalize the data and look at the past 3.5 years for thread requests for other topics, such as religion and fitness, we can see that tech thread requests have certainly been more numerous. There have been more tech request threads in the past 3.5 years than there have been requests for a religion board since 2006. Impressively, however, there appear to be 30 request threads for a fitness board since 2007, although normalized over the past 3.5 years, such requests have been exceeded by requests for a tech board.

I've certainly never been averse to the possibility of a Fitness Board, and feel such a board would definitely thrive.

However, despite just as many (if not slightly more) requests for a Tech Board during similar time periods, we have yet to even receive a legitimate answer as to whether such a board will ever be implemented.

I hate to break it to you, but this is likely all in vain.

Impressive work though.

Big shocker, but it's been anchored again. It's starting to get a bit ridiculous that we don't have a Tech board.
