What kinda sauce was he taking for this movie? I thought I read several years ago about him saucing up for Blade Trinity as well as Brad Pitt for Troy.

Probably nothing of consequence. Not like he's old and got huge. He just got what looks like natural big, not that excessive big like a professional or something.

I mean, you remember hearing the workouts for 300? They were just lifting like crazy.

So the generic one bodypart per week?

That doesn't work for the average American who's natural and spends 1 hour in the gym.

People have been getting results from that type of program for as long as there has been weight training.

It's been working for me. Of course since I'm not taking roids or whatever it's taken longer for me to see results but I see them. Not sure where you got that info from.

Sure it does. The question is, could they get better or equal results doing a full body or split routine?

My mantra is always efficiency. Get the best results possible in the shortest amount of time. For most people, the old one body part per day workout is not a very efficient workout.

I guess that was the point I was trying to make and didn't back it up with any substance. I've done both extensively and seen much better results following a full body routine or upper/lower split where you're able to hit a muscle at least 2 times a week and focus more on compound movements.

You almost hit the nail on the head of my point, there's nothing wrong with focusing on say only chest for one day but then you don't hit that muscle group for another 6 days when in reality it can be worked after 2-3 days, if we're talking about efficiency that muscle group is idling for half the month in terms of direct work.

Not only that but the average Joe doesn't need to do 8 chest exercises, 3-4 sets each, in a single routine. That's just overkill. If you push yourself properly you can get plenty of muscle stimulation from a couple of exercises.

shite, I can do just squats one day and have my legs destroyed for 2 days.

I see some guys with barely any muscle mass doing 6 shoulder exercises in a one hour or so session. Just overkill. Use that time for other stuff.

This this this.

I used to be the guy doing lat pulldown, one arm row, incline db flyes, and seated cable rows all in 30 minutes but now weighted pullup's covers all of that in 5-10 minutes.

The main problem I see in typical bodybuilding splits is the volume. A typical routine has 8-10 exercises per day per muscle group with maybe 2 compound movements and 7-8 isolation exercises. For the average person it's unreasonable to be able to go 100% on each lift over the course of an hour and make steady progress week to week

Is this the health and fitness board or the "dad bod routine" board? The posters spouting off this nonsense about not training hard need to post their pics then we can judge who knows how to train. Just ridiculous
