What’s the current best running shoe for 3-5 mile neighborhood jogging?

I always wore Brooks Launch when I used to run.

Seems everyone likes Hoka now

I've been researching a little myself. Ghosts are still popular for sure. I also see New Balance 1080V12 along with Hokas. I just ordered a pair of Nike Pegasus 39 for the treadmill.

Depends what you need. But I've always thought Saucony makes a very comfortable neutral running shoe, such as the Saucony Ride.

I have an average foot. Not flat or high arched. And I plan to run 3-5 miles every other day on regular neighborhood streets/sidewalks

I'd go with the NB1080's. Those are my favorite for easy jogs.

Running Warehouse has some Hokas (20% off) and Ghost (35% off) on sale.

If durability is a concern at all with your mileage, I think Hokas hold up better than most. I have to remind myself to swap them out because they hold up so well.

I love my mizuno wave riders. I’ve had multiple versions for the last 15 years.

Go to a local run specialty store and get fitted. It’ll be free and no commitment to buy. My current favorite is the new balence 860 but that may be a horrible shoe for you

based on what you say your arch profile is Nike Pegasus hoka or ASICS may be your best bet. ASICS tend to be a bit lower profile but a lot of people I fitted that had a mid range arch would like them fine

ETA: I still stand by my original advice though

If you've gone with Brooks Ghost, chances are you are fine with most neutral shoes.

ASICS Cumulus
Brooks Ghost
Nike Pegasus
Mizuno Wave Rider
New Balance 1080

Altra Paradigm. Extra cushion like Hoka, but zero drop.

OP -
don't take random shoe advice from TD. you mention running in ghost previously with a 12 mm drop and people tell you best shoe is altra zero drop. There is no best shoe. do some research here if you don't want to go with the ghost again.

I got the ghosts in. I was wrong. My old shoes weren’t Ghosts. They were Launch. I don’t think I like the ghosts. Way too much arch support and cushion. Will probably trade these out for another set of Launches.

Went for a test out run in the ghosts and the arches of my feet and my knees hurt. Apparently I like a lighter flatter less cushioned shoe than the Ghosts.
