i have no cartilage in my left knee, it's basically arthritis. but was a result of a growth defect, but i grew up running cross country.
getting back into some light running, maybe the occasional 5k.
what is yall ideas for running shoes that would offer good heal support to help with road pounding? or should i get a standard supportive running shoe with a good insole?
thoughts?

I believe the Hokas might be a good choice for you.

I had ACL reconstruction and I have somewhat flat feet. Went to podiatrist, got some custom insoles and bought a pair of Brooks Beast running shoes. They've been a game changer for me.

You really need to go see a good shoe person - so much of it is the type of step/foot you have. It's with the money to find the right shoe for you. Most of these running shoe specialty stores will have people who can do anything from watching you run/walk to video analysis in order to recommend good shoes.
