I'm in my hometowns gym and doing deadlifts and I always hurt my back doing deadlifts here. I figured it was just ego and I lifted more aggressively around other people. However, I checked it today and did lighter weights because we can only use bumpers here (hi temps). Doing 405 for triples with a full reset. Well on my third rep, pain shot up my back and almost tweaked it. Never happens when I do iron plates. Finally figured it was the bumpers. No more.

Never really had that issue if all I can use is bumper plates, but most the time I’ll use the first set for 135 as bumper then go to regular plates or Oly if I can.

I've done them with the low bounce and was fine but these hi temps bounce like crazy.

Bounce + different diameter probably. Screws with your timing and leverages.

My Rogue HGs don't have much bounce. Never had a problem with them on deadlifts

I use bumpers from time to time. As I can see what you're saying, if you control the weights a little more, you wont feel that. The times I have let the weights go a little more, I have felt more shock in my back.
