Pain/Discomfort in the front left side of my right knee?

Started to squat again after skipping it for a couple of years. This is my 3rd week and I started having some discomfort in my right knee after a couple of reps. Thought it was soreness but now not so sure. Sort of nervous to squat again and see what happens. Guessing Ill just ice and rest it another few days and see what happens.

Gotta check your form. Make sure you are tracking your knees above your feet and descending by unlocking the knees instead of hips first. Also check depth is just below parallel.

I have the exact same pain but in the opposite knee. Flared up last week. I'm sure form is partially to blame. I also got some new shoes for the gym and I think they may be too soft and not providing a firm base.

That's usually the case with running shoes. Feet don't stay at 3 points of contact. They tend to roll in.

I lift in running shoes so maybe this is the issue?

Yeah, honestly one of the worst shoes you can lift in due to stability and force production.

Yep. I think the softer soles on my shoes are causing my knee to move inside a bit. Gonna give squats a rest for a bit and then try again with my old New Balance Minimus.
