I'm sure this has been discussed in the many TRT threads, but it gets buried in more complicated discussions above my head. Started TRT 6 weeks ago. Got my first labs back today. Testosterone is 1048 up from ~275. Estradiol is high though (87.5 pg/mL, 7.6-42.6 normal range). Figured this might be the case since I've put on about 10-12 lbs of likely water weight.

My provider mentioned that I can look into OTC blockers if this becomes the case before trying something prescription. Are there any particular supplements I should look for?

Aspirin is an aromatase inhibitor

Also grape seed extract is probably better than aspirin.

What was your TRT dose? You went from 275 to over 1,000 in six weeks?

The test results are what they are. I was surprised to see that high of total testosterone (my copy didn't list free). Haven't had a chance to discuss yet. Only interested in estrogen blocker because I was already wanting to lose weight. Have been way more active over this period and gained weight consistently since starting. Was told that could be a side effect of higher estrogen levels. This test showed higher levels.

The supplements DIM or Indole-3-Carbinol will lower your Estradiol.

Based on my experience on TRT since February, you are still going to gain weight with estrogen levels in the right range, especially if you are lifting. Key is your body fat percentage. I gained muscle weight and lowered body fat percentage.

I did an Inbody scan every 6 weeks or so to track. I know those are not always exactly accurate but it's something.

Seems like the OTC stuff is a great magnitude more expensive then prescription. I would just get the script and start with the smallest possible dose if you need it. I cut my armidex into 1/4 tab and take that once per week or so when I get high.

What is your dose and how often are you injecting?

Are you symptomatic?

If no symptoms, let it ride and eventually things will balance out. 6 weeks isn’t enough time for your body to adjust. If you’re doing weekly doses, try splitting dose into twice a week minimum.

I believe my latest dosage was 180 per week last I saw. But since I'm just getting started I think they may have ramped it up and it's been tweaked every few visits.

No major symptoms like sore nipples and swollen feet. But have gained weight after being stable for a long time and it's not 12 lbs of muscle. And one of my reasons for checking into TRT was always being tired. That hasn't changed. Saw these are symptoms of estradiol as well, then bloodwork came back and showed way high compared to their range. Realize now that is pretty subjective.

Will just give it more time.

Your injecting once per week? Try splitting it up

Good point. Sub q is also supposed to help.

Just started at this place. They don't prescribe self injection until you get the blood work done after the first 6 weeks. And not sure if they'll be willing to set that up if they feel the numbers still need work. I can discuss splitting it up, but notnsure what their thoughts on it are.

On a 180 dose, hitting T into 1000s can be expected. That was a high starting dose, IMO.

Your body will freak a bit, but will level out over time. You can hop on Estradiol for a few months to help your body adapt, it does not have to be ongoing though.
