October challenge: 100 miles/3000 pull ups/ 6000 push ups/ 9000 air squats

In June I attempted the same challenge minus the 100 miles running. I hurt my back on day 29 and couldn’t work out. Later that July I slipped at the boat launch and whacked my shoulder. I’ve been out of the game for 3 months. My body is getting soft. I’m turning 35 in a few days and decided to go for it all this month.

I’m posting on the board to keep me accountable and maybe inspire a few people. It seemed like a lot of people hopped on when I started the push up challenge back in the spring.

Day 1: 1.75 miles, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 air squats, 1.25 miles. Absolutely humbled. This shite was hard AF after not working out for that long.

Serious question. How do you 200 pull-ups in a day? I can maybe do a few sets of 8-10 before I’m spent for the whole day. Are these assisted pull-ups or the CrossFit type?

I’m breaking the movement up into 5/10/15. 20 sets. Sometimes I do 10/20/30, but it’s harder that way. I tire easily. The last time I did the challenge I could do the entire calisthenics part in under 17:30 if I really pushed it. It’s just like everything else, the more you do it, the better you get at it.

And to answer your question, I’m only doing strict pull ups. CrossFit pull ups are for figs.

Jesus.

How many calories are you eating in a day?

Day 2: split up the calisthenics and the run today.

Did the calisthenics at lunch and then ran after work. It wasn’t pretty but got it done.

200 pull-ups a day???? How about 200 in a month haha

Seriously I can do like 10 full pull-ups when I am fresh. I don’t see how this is possible

It’s 100 a day. Not 200

That’s the part I really need to figure out. Hard to tell how much I’m burning through the calisthenics.

Day 3- Ran at 5 AM and then did the Calisthenics after work.

To say I am sore is an understatement. The last time I did the 100/200/300 challenge I was in much better shape going in. This time around the pull ups have been tough after about 50 or so.

But just like last time, I think my body will adapt. For now I am gonna keep pushing.

Day 4:
Ran in the AM before work again. Legs still feel really heavy. Running about a 10-10:30 pace, which is all I have right now.

Did the Calisthenics portion after work. My biceps and back have been really sore, by round 11 I had to break the pull ups up even more. I could no longer do sets of 5. But I pushed through and completed right around 30 minutes.

Day 5:
Woke up at 4:15 and went fishing. Got home around 1ish. While watching the second half of the game I did the calisthenics portion at the house since I have a door frame pull up bar.

Took a nap, woke up and did the run. Both of the workouts sucked today, I guess the fishing took it out of me. Nevertheless, I got it done.

25 more days...

Knocked out the calisthenics portion this morning. Heading out to the saints game and dinner after.

If the 3 miles don’t get run today, I’ll have to add mileage during the week to make up for it.

I’m pretty sore, but better than the last few days. I’m seeing some slight body changes as well. Nothing major, but it feels like a little fat has melted. Progress.

Day 7:

Woke up at 5am to get my run in before work. It was ungodly humid and the run sucked. Worked half day and played in a golf tournament this afternoon. It’s still 95 degrees in South LA. Needless to say, I wasn’t really into the thought of doing 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 air squats. I made myself do it and it ended up being the best workout of the last week. I shaved almost 6 minutes off my time. Some days you just have to show up, and your body will do the rest.

I did not get to run yesterday, so I will have to split that up between workouts this week. I also have to fly to Houston tomorrow at noon and won’t be back home until around 11pm. I’ll probably have time to only do one workout.

Day 8:

Ran at 5 am before work. 3 miles.

I worked until about 10:30, went to Baton Rouge and flew to Houston. I had some business to attend to. By the time my plane landed and I drove home it was midnight.

As of now, I am 100 pullups/200 pushups/ 300 air squats and 3 miles behind.

October has 31 days in it and I was going to give myself 1 rest day. I may still make up the time and give myself a true full days rest somewhere in between.

Day 9:
Was exhausted from the day before so I did not work out early in the morning before work. I went to the gym at lunch and knocked out the calisthenics portion fasted. Posted my best time of the month without really pushing. Almost 3 minutes faster than Saturday at 22:57.

Ran tonight at 9pm after getting home from work and a church function.

Almost 1/3 into it. I’m feeling much less sore than the past few days, and I’m even feeling like I can push myself a little instead of just barely getting through the workout.

Day 10:
Did the calisthenics at lunch, and ran late tonight.
Felt some knee pain during the calisthenics, I may need to slow it down a bit on some days

Heading to Jacksonville tomorrow for the saints game. I’ll try and get it in while I’m there though.

It's been a while and I went out of town for the Saints game, so here are my updates from the weekend.

Friday 10/11:
Calisthenics in the morning before leaving for Jacksonville.
Arrived in Jacksonville that night and ran my 3 miles

Saturday 10/12:
Did the calisthenics and ran in the same workout. I was whipped when I finished. I played golf later that day at TPC and my muscles were achy. My golf game definitely suffered.

Sunday 10/13: It was game day and I was going to take a rest, but ended up doing 100 pushups and 100 Airsquats while waiting around in the hotel.

Monday 10/14:
Calisthenics at lunch. Right under 22 minutes. The rest day really helped.
Ran after work, legs were tired and felt really heavy.

I will continue on with the challenge until 10/31, body willing.

Tuesday 10/15:
Calisthenics at lunch, ran after work.

Wednesday 10/16:
Calisthenics after work, went to a church function and then ran afterwards at about 9:30.

My muscles feel fatigued, but once I get going, I sort of get in a groove and just push through it. It's not really a soreness at this point, everything just feels heavy.

Grabbing the fat on my stomach area, I can definitely feel the fat melting off. When I pinch, it's much less. I am only down about 3 pounds.
