Men - what do you do to lower your triglycerides & cholesterol?

Im 35 and increasing my life insurance so I had to take a blood test. I got the results back yesterday and my triglycerides were 171. That’s very high for me, although I know many would love to have that level. My cholesterol was also a tad high, although lower than last time. Fasting glucose was 102, which is the highest it’s ever been for me.
Looking to exercise more often and eat healthier. What are some things you eat to help with this? This is a little new to me as I’ve never been at these levels before and would like to bring them back down before I get put on medication.

Are there any fish oil supplements I can take that won’t have me burping up fish smells? I’ve always heard that’s a problem with them.

One of the best things you can do is cut the crappy food and eat grilled or baked fish and veggies about 2-3 days a week

You will probably eventually get put on a statin drug. Short term you should exercise and eat as healthy as you can.

Man would you look at this... a Bama fan and an Auburn fan helping out an LSU fan. I feel like there should be a punch line somewhere here.

A “high” cholesterol number one and of itself doesn’t tell you too much.

Worst possible thing.

Why is that? I have heard that they’re very effective

I have heard that cutting out/lowering sugar and high carb foods can be helpful.
There’s a lot of stuff out there to replace it that is healthy.
It’s worth a try because there’s other benefits to lowering sugar/carbs

Why would a statin be the worst possible thing? They’re pretty damn effective.

I want to look into that. Over heard good things about it for a long time. I guess I’m getting to the age now where I need to start paying attention to my body.

This X 100!
Exercise every single day.
Exercise HARD at least a few of those days.
Get in casual activity via several short walks throughout the day.
You can do this.
