Hip Flexor Injury

Back in February i began running four to five days a week for four weeks straight. This was the most active I have been in about 10 years. I woke up one morning and began limping due to pain from my hip. It would hurt when I would stand up and turn or when getting out of my car. I rested for three weeks and I am now on day two of running again. This morning my hip is messed up again. I know I need to go see a doctor but I was curious if anyone has any stretches that they can recommend.

No clue about your injury but couch stretch and ATG split squat have done wonders for loosening up my hip flexors. Also elevated pigeon for the back of the hips. Reverse squat for strengthening them. I'm not a runner but strengthening them should probably help with speed

Sounds like you started out too fast and is a typical overuse type of pain. Proper warm up, and post running stretching, and another good stretching session later in the day will help. Aim for 2-3 lighter runs a week for now.
Here's a good article on some stretches/exercises that can help.

Unless you live in a state without direct access, skip the MD and go straight to Physical Therapist. If you are in the BR area look into Delta, Alinea, or Moreau in Walker or Sherwood. They all focus on a fitness forward approach to therapy and won’t waste time with fluff that won’t get results

How old are you? What is your range of motion like? Not uncommon for men to think they "pulled their groin" or have a hip flexor issue and it actually be hip arthritis. I would say especially if you over the age of 40 and you tried rest, nsaids, etc and it is still there then I would get an X-ray.

I am 32.
I wasn’t really active since highschool but I decided I wanted to get active and run. After resting for three weeks I was pain free. I ran Monday then rested Tuesday, ran yesterday and I’ve been in pain while walking all day today.
