If so have you ever tried the smolov squat or one of many sheiko training programs? The volume seems too much in my opinion.

Also what's your opinion on bench shirts squat suits etc?

I know some guys who love sheiko routines, but I don't like the volume either.

For strength/power, I love MaxOT programs, but it's extremely hard on the joints to always go to failure in 4-6 reps per set every week.

I've never used gear for lifting. If I can't hit it raw, I don't want to lift it. It feels like I'm cheating.

..and my best program for deadlifts is to rarely hit them. I concentrated more on back and front squat recently and my deadlifts improved by 15%.

I tried smolov once, it was not enjoyable and I did not finish as it was a job. Itd probably work if youre an advanced lifter amd wanted to break a plateu.

The gear is fine as long as your goal is to reach the absolute highest number you can. Or you want to compete, but then again youre going to want some synthetic "gear" too.

However if your not an advanced lifter itll just be a detriment to your own personal growth.

Personally i do it for fun and personal goals. The gear defeats the purpose for me, but I am all natural and am definitely am not an advanced competition level guy.

Somedays I use a belt or wrist wraps. Always use liquid chalk. Maybe some knee wraps and squat shoes pending how my knees feel.

No idea what those programs are. I go traditional raw for everything. Suits and equipment are for the little boys.

If I'm going straight powerlifting for strength I go a 3x a week 5-3-1 program.

Too some accessory shite the other 2-3 days. I don't have a desire to lift like that anymore though. Been since 2015.

Too many people try the smolov program. It's recommended for folks at 400+ pound squats. It's as elite of a program as there is. Your average lifter simply can't handle the volume associated with that program.

If you like sheiko, check out Jance footit on Facebook. He's a trainer out of Georgia and he went to Russia earlier this year for like 3 weeks to work directly with Borris and had Borris write him a custom program pretty cool to see his videos from when he went and trained in Russia for a few weeks.

I might try it. I love deadlifting but I need to bring up my squat.

I might do a support thread. Might get a few people on here doing it.

I think they are for the advanced lifter only that have gone past their limit raw.

Bands are amazing though. I really like it prior to a heavy lift. It cues my speed of the barbell.

Raises hand

Never did any of the Russian training. Haven't needed to. I see gains with the routine I currently do. If it stalls at some point, I may look into it.

Never have done any geared lifting. From the looks of it, I don't want to use a bench shirt ever. Just doesn't look enjoyable. For the bast few months, I have been thinking about getting a pair of briefs. Just for some overload training. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

The slingshot looks interesting though for training.

Lots of people progress well from deadlifting 1-2 times a month or even less

It sucks putting on

Best equipment I ever used was a marathon deadlift suit, brought my deadlift from 555 raw to 610. I think they are out of business though

I don't like how gear feels in general except that one piece

That's what people say on smolov training.

Yeah if you squat 3-4 times a week or more on smolov; you only need to pull once every week or two since you erector spinae is getting so much work in

Or you can do some high pulls squat cleans etc and not worry about the eccentric phase and build on your speed that way instead of deadlifting
