Volunteering at PGA Events

I volunteered last year for a Senior PGA event at TPC Sugarloaf. I was a walking scorer which meant that I got to walk with a group of players during their round and keep their score. I walked with Corey Pavin, Larry Nelson, Larry Mize and others. One of the guys I walked with was actually the clubhouse leader after 1 round.
I got the volunteering bug again so I volunteered this year for the TOUR Championship at East Lake. My #1 choice was a walking scorer but from what i've read, these are highly coveted and typically openings only happen after someone dies.
My committee this year is Supply Distribution which means that i'll be refreshing the water stations with water and ice. Not too bad of a job, i get to be in a cart all day and maybe will get to see some of the event.
Anyone else ever volunteered for an event?

Do you get to play the course after the tournament?

Volunteered at the Zurich. Walked with Carl Petterson whose an a-hole, Cameron Tringale, and Jhonny Vegas whose caddy was a legend. Vegas and Tringale both shot around 65 and we're around the lead. Petterson played like shite and was a dick to everyone he interacted with so I loved seeing him play bad.
Got to play the course after the tournament for free and an older lady was also with the group and said she didn't play so she mailed me her round as well. Me and a buddy got to both play which was cool.

No, but they do allow me to play TPC Sugarloaf for $50.
I'm playingredients East Lake for a golf outing in August though. Should be a nice and brisk day.

I was a walking scorer the year Ben Martin shot the course record at TPC LA, which still stands to this day.
He got up and down from everywhere. Made Kevin Chapel's round of 1 under look pedestrian.
Watching Ben Martin shoot a 62 in the kind of wind they had that day was the best round of golf I've ever seen in person.

I've have volunteered at Zurich for years and it's a hoot. You pay $50 and get a shirt, hat, two all week passes, food on the days you work and get up-close to the world' best. Plus, if you work 2 full days you get a round of golf at the course, which is now a tournament with more free stuff.
As someone said, some of the pros can be real a-holes but most are decent guys as are their caddies.
Another option is the senior tournament in Mississippi. I volunteered there a few years ago and it was fun and more laid back than Zurich. I'd do it again if my schedule allows.
Just do it...
