Heard UC has a waiting list for membership these days. I'd like to join there one day but I've heard nightmares about getting tee times on the weekend and 5 hour rounds because of so many people playing. Some say the joining isn't even worth it.

A buddy (who is a member) told me they over 1200 members, most of which golf. Is the waiting list their way of trying to cap the amount of members to free up the course?

What's it like for weekend golfer member over there these days?

Have two buddies who are members and it is insane. What good is a course if you can’t get on.

Was a member while we lived in BR (4 years). I only played the weekend once because it was such a mess and it was around 2pm, which was “first available” a week out. I played all my rounds during the week when it was a ghost town. I felt like my game got really tight while playing and practicing there. I cherished the difficulties of the course but damn was it irritating trying to play the weekend.

A course that isn’t fun to play that you can’t get on that has few other things to offer.

The fact they have a wait list speaks to the condition of the public courses in the area

UClub Membership - Waiting List

It’s shorter than the one for an early morning weekend tee time

Why are golf courses so bad at business? Raise prices a little until it balances and use the money to pay your employees and improve the quality of the product.

I think it is because so many golf courses are subsidized so they really don't have to be run like a normal business. It really screws up the economics for golf though.

I joined 2 months ago and you can only call for a tee time 7 days in advance. If you want a weekend round you have to call at 7am to get a morning round. Groups of 3 or 4 only allowed until 11:30, after that twosomes and 5somes can play.

Getting a tee time is impossible. Don’t waste your money unless you are in a group. Not only are there too many members they also have to accommodate both golf teams, junior golf, TAF guests and corporate members who get a ton of guest passes every year. Hate to say it but you are an idiot to join even if they reduced membership by a hundred.

Don’t want people knowing how good it is now. I enjoy the fast rounds.

not sure if your buddies info is off or Frank lied to me

he told me there are 730 memebers currently (this was as of about 2 weeks ago) which half are out of town members

they want to get to 725 members each month, hence the wait list. he told me they lose about 5 to 7 memebers a month

i am not a member but have thought about joining since i live very close. The hand full of times i have played out there i have never heard of or had issues with playing / tee times. rounds have generally been been about 4 hours

I’m a member, there’s definitely not 1200 members. More like 700 and I’ve never had an issue getting a tee time. Range can get a little stacked and sometimes the course is pretty full, but it’s nowhere near the hyperbolic stuff I see on tiger droppings. Course that is always the case on every board here but don’t let the non members who are spouting out fifth hand information tell you how things are at U club.

My roommate is a member there and he says it’s damn near impossible to get a weekend tee time but he can play anytime on weekdays.

No problem getting a 2pm tee time on a Sunday or a 9am on a Saturday?

Completely disagree with you. I am a member and the biggest complaint I hear if no tee times. It is next to impossible to get an early afternoon Friday and Saturday morning tee time unless you are in a group. And 700 members is very large considering UC has two golf teams, junior golf, paid tournaments, TAF dignitaries and corporate guests all fighting for tee times. And five hours are not unheard of. The Marshalls do not Marshall pace of play. They are only there to enforce who pays. That’s no joke - they do not enforce pace of play.
