Type of Golf Hole that Doesn't Suit Your Game?

Anyone have that one type of hole that you happen upon in a round and thrilled to be done with it?

For me it's the long dogleg left par 4 with a forced carry on the left side. Think #6 at TPC La, #14 UClub, #17 Grand Bear, etc. I naturally cut the ball off the tee, so it's a matter of how much of the hazard I want to bite off...and I end up doing one of two things:

Trying to draw the ball and snap hooking it. Or playing a conservative cut and making the hole longer than necessary. To the point where my playing partner that can move the ball right to left will have wedge in. And I'm hitting 4i. With the same distance off the tee.

Long ones

ETA: mine is similar to yours since I can't draw the ball off the tee

#5 and #16 at Greystone give me fits. I can't just make myself hit it straight and I end up trying to do something stupid. Also add #18 at PP

I also hate holes with no side to miss off of the tee, like #5 at beaver or #12 at beaver. They are both fairly wide but still intimidating. I usually just hit a hybrid or iron and move along.

Draw off the tee with driver. A real draw, not just the 10 yd one.

Forced draw on a par 4 260 yards, dogleg left.

I've got nothing. Gotta hit a 3 iron and have a mid iron in.

Think #6 at TPC La,

That hole is just brutal. I play a lower trajectory draw and it doesn't fit my ball flight either because the fairway pitches toward the water, so if I pull it at all, it's running in there. If you play up the right, it leaves you with a monster second shot with trouble long, left and right. Hate that hole.

I hate both of the par-5's on the front 9 as well. The tee shots are way too taxing for a Par-5 and both of them have long bunkers in what should be the lay up zones. There's no strategy... hit an exacting shot or pay the price. 7 isn't as bad because you can bail to the right and sill have a decent angle in, but 2 is ridiculous.

I watched Kevin Chapel struggle with #2 at TPC.

He dropped a few F bombs and a few strokes on that hole a couple of years ago.

Lol. Years ago, Vijay sliced his drive there and tagged a dude right in the ribs. He grabbed a sammy from his bag and went to the left side of the fairway and sent his caddy over to move the crowd for his shot. When it's all ready, his caddy calls him over. Caddy says "that's the guy you hit". Vijay barely glances at the guy, nods, hits his shot and walks away. Dick.

12 and 14 at beaver

Any hole that has an overhanging tree that you need to fade around near a tee box. I need room for my draw/hook

A dogleg left. I like to fade the ball so if I'm blocked from playing a fade over trees and cutting the corner I'm screwed. That tee shot just does not suit my eye at all.

Par threes with water down side. Always feels like a magnet for my shot.

#12 at beaver creek gives me fits. Just need to rip a 4 iron and be done with it.

I struggle with a medium to long length par 4 that forces you to lay up off the tee because there is so much trouble. Leaving a long iron into a green. My weakness is 4-5 iron range.

Those types of holes are good design and healthy for a golf course though. Hard holes doesn't mean they aren't "good holes."

Well, he cheats.

He did in Fiji, anyway.

can't remember the exact number but theres a par 4 on the backside at oak wing that is a dogleg left. thing is the creek forces a layup/st right and you have 200+ in

#12 at Copper Mill and #18 at TPC. Both those holes are just beasts.

One with water, or sand, or grass, or a green, and a tee box.

This one. I actually like the hole but can't drive it far enough to go for it in 2.
Atchafalaya #6, not sure what happened on that one. Must have run out of space or wetland restriction.

What's the total yardage on that one?

What do you usually have in?

My ranch has a hole that, when wet, makes you hit a driver on this par 4 but leaves you a long shot into the green even when it's dry. Especially if you don't draw it at all. This went about 270 off the tee....

to here and left me 264 to the pin. You can hit to a number, or rip a 3 wizzle....

Atchafalaya #6,

Good Call! It would probably be a better hole if they'd cut the trees down on the corners of both doglegs to make it more risk reward. It's just straight up goofy as is.

I also hate 16. Really just the bunker fronting the entire green. I feel like Par-5's should allow for a run up approach. That hole wrecked my career round once. I was 3 over total, even on the back, sitting flag high left in 2. Walked off with a 10 after an unfortunate bladed chip and subsequent meltdown in the bunker. I still have nightmares about that
