Are all range balls crap for dialing in distances or is there a way to get an accurate representation?

I know some balls will say ‘minimum distance’ on them. Most just say PRACTICE or another like label. Does this imply they are all not designed for proper distance measurements?

Yes, limited flight balls are mainly used for ranges that are too confined real estate wise to have balls flying all over the place. Your distances will be off your regular ball.

I've heard Trackman will make some adjustment for range ball use while practicing. Not certain, only what i've read.

Most practice balls are 2 pieces. You'll get inconsistent spin and odd carry numbers. This is why you see the pros warming up with the balls they actually play.

The only way to get good accurate carry distances is to get a session on a good launch monitor using premium or your gamer golf balls .

if i were you i would try to find a place that you can use a launch monitor ( such as a golf shop or training place). It is worth paying to get your distance figured out. THis is what i did

It can be pretty hard to get distances off of them. I practice and play regularly on a high end launch monitor and know my numbers pretty well. I can easily lose 10 to 30 yards of carry at the driving range depending on the club and ball condition. My wedges don't get the same height and spin, etc.

I've been to a place with trackman and range balls (golf suites in Baton Rouge) and whatever they have in the software to account for the fact that you are hitting range balls did a pretty good job. So if you have somewhere around you like that, it's not a bad choice.

My Meevo plus has a setting for range balls. Most launch monitors do. That’s gonna be the only way to get accurate yardages

I chart my on course shots. A golf shot for me is more art than science sometimes. The number is a starting point. The lie. The conditions. The landing zone. The fat side.

Of course, I was pin high on first par 3 after work yesterday, but left about 20 yards. The other par 3 I was 3 feet.

Knowing my carry distance is important. Taking a proper swing is paramount.

I would always just add about 10 yards to what range balls flew. How does trackman account for range balls? Does it just give you a close enough estimate to what you numbers with a premium ball would be?

Do you have access to a golf course? If so, go to the 150 yard marker and see what club you use. Work your yardages and clubs off of that distance - usually 8-12 yard gaps from there on clubs.
