I have a bad feeling in my gut that Augusta National is going to impose some kind of restrictions on patrons. Whether is it limiting hours, reducing areas of access, or outright not allowing patrons... I am officially worried.

This will be my first trip and I have tickets for Monday AND Tuesday. Sucks. Hoping for the best.. but I think if major sporting events begin imposing restrictions on fans, it will make it easier for them to do the same.

I don't think you'll get restrictions. It doesn't make sense to me in thinking about the course and how the disease is transmitted. If you're going to allow fans, you allow fans.

I was thinking about going on Saturday. Looked at tickets and they are considerably cheaper this year. I wouldn’t think they would restrict the course. The gift shop is a different story. That place is insane. Could see them limiting the people allowed in or even closing it.

I wouldn't think limiting the people in the gift shop would help if one person with Corona virus touches every shirt on the rack.

There isn't an easy solution to this problem, if you are actually attempting to address it.

But I will say this, and idk if you are on this scenario, but I won lotto tickets for a practice round a few years ago. It rained and poured and they closed the course and pulled all the patrons off the course. It sucked to drive that far to barely finish walking 18 and seeing little to no golf. I ended up winning in the lottery the next year, which makes me think if they cancel, the lottery will magically pull the same people next year.

Not saying they are cheap. They are considerably cheaper this year compared to past years.

There shouldn't be any restrictions, barring a huge outbreak in the surrounding area. I'm sure they will have some precautions in place related to the gift shop but nothing major.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, but you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Honestly, I expect the Master's to be played without patrons this year. It's still a month away and this outbreak is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I believe we're only seeing the beginning as far as cancelled sports.

The problem isn't necessarily the outbreak in the area right now. It's the 200k people potentially carrying the virus coming to Augusta for a week

I don’t leave for Augusta for another 25 days. That’s a really long time and a ton can happen between now and then. I don’t think anything is off the table. Augusta National will likely lean on what the experts are suggesting at the time.

yeah it's way too early to tell. Even the events cancelled in Europe are only currently cancelled for two weeks. However, when you think about the scale of the events cancelled (St. Patrick's Day events in Ireland, Soccer cancelled or played without fans in Europe, Churches in Rome) it's hard to think golf wouldn't have face a similar impact if it spreads through the US like it has other countries.

If we manage to contain it then yeah I'm sure everything will be played as normal

I expect August National to make some changes for fans this year....including the potential for no fans. You can bet that the merchandise center and the food vending stations will be a no go. There will be limits on the press center as well.

They have always protected their players and their field and will do so at the expense of fans if needed.

A previous posted nailed it - if you were picked in the lottery system for 2020 and they limit it cancel fan access, you will magically be drawn again for 2021.

I am going this year as well, and I am pretty concerned it will be without fans. As someone else mentioned we are just at the beginning of this event, but I do believe Augusta will wait until the last minute they can to cancel if they have to.

They sent me an email that they are monitoring the situation and let me know. I am going to be pissed if I can't go.

If they do the event without fans, I'd hope they give those fans the same tickets for next year or at least the option for that or a refund.

People literally wait decades before winning that lottery. I've missed out on them 6+ years running.

The good news is The Masters is ran by wealthy conservative businessmen who aren’t swayed by liberal media bs and have no corporate influence. Hopefully they see this bs for what it really is...Nothing. And proceed as planned.

1200 right now for daily round tickets - that’s about what they’ve always been, huh?

They also will respect the players if the players are fairly united in thinking it is a good idea to play with no fans.

The Masters has never been played at Augusta National with fans present.

They do allow patrons to observe though.
