Looking to get serious. Master current shite clubs or go with new set?

Here's what's currently in my bag:
Cleveland Launcher Gold Driver
Bridges Accuracy Express Irons 3-9
Ping Eye 2 Wedge
Dunlop Tour Max Putter
I've "played" on and off here and there for a while, but never really took it serious. I couldn't tell you what distances I hit with certain clubs. I just "eye it."
If I'm now wanting to really get into the game, should I go with the crappy clubs and upgrade later or go with a newer set?

Get fitted and go buy used stuff to your specs on clubs that are a generation behind. You could get fully decked out for under $1500.

Bridges irons???
I never thought I'd see another person with these clubs lol. They were my first set of irons when I was younger. From West Georgia Golf Company in good ole Tallapoosa, GA!

There is some truth to the statement that it's usually the Indian and not the arrows.
But the statement of why not have both is even more important.
Because you are leaving alot of technology on the table by not upgrading to something within the last 5 years.

Follow the advice above. Get fitted and search eBay for last year’s gear in the same specs

Back in the day you'd see a lot of people at the local munis and goat ranch country clubs in NE AL and NW GA playing Bridges clubs from WGGC lol

You can get all you need for $250 since you're just starting. I'd get something very standard. Go on and get like a 910 driver, some used rocketballz irons and that will at least give you a starting point.

Just look on FB Marketplace or craigslist. Google the clubs that are for sale and see if you can buy something from a major equipment manufacturer that was made in the last five years. You can check the PGA Value of clubs online, so you don't get ripped off.
The bigger the club head, the better. It'll be easier to hit. You want something that is game improvement. The harder you swing, the more likely you need stiff shaft irons, not regular flex.
If you are just starting out, getting fitted isn't going to make a big difference, because your swing is likely not very repeatable. Unless you're really tall or really short, I'd just get standard loft and standard lie clubs. Once you start playing more and the scores start getting better, go get fitted.
If you want, find something and post them in this thread and I'm sure everyone would give their opinions.

Disagree.
Older clubs arent bent arrows. They may be a little less forgiving and not hit quite as far.
If your slicing hard or shanking or digging up ground 4 inches behind the ball, new clubs arent gonna fix that.

Folks have shot under par with equipment a lot worse than that for 100 years.
I would get a set of irons and leave the driver and wedge alone for now.
Any set of cavity backs from the last 10 years will do. Get some cheap, that fit, and beat the grooves off of them
Once you've figured out your own swing and game then you can pick drivers and wedges to fit

i switched from blades to more forgiving i200's a couple years ago because i wasn't playing very often. it made a noticeable difference in my scores without really changing anything
