Hitting the ball like crap, but having one of your better rounds.

...really goes to show how important the short game is. My ball striking today was really bad, granted had a few good misses, but literally got up in down on every hole. Even chipped one in from right off the green. The whole round was a complete scramble but managed shooting an 80 (my PB is 78).

Just a testament to drive for sho, put for dough! I know...csb.

I think I've said it before on this board, but that's my biggest recommendation to every newer golfer.

You save so many strokes by getting up and down vs. taking 4 strokes to get down from off the green like so many new players do.

I agree with you, but I find golf much more enjoyable when I'm striking the ball well. I can always blame my poor short game on the course or other factors

Short game is where it's at! I played yesterday. From tee to green, I looked like a monkey trying to frick a football, but I was still able to shoot 79.
