Hi, I'm looking for a new driver and these two have caught my attention. I'm not sure which one of them to choose though. What do you guys think?

Hit them both on a monitor and compare the numbers. Ball speed off the face and spin rate are two important ones to pay attention to. If your funds allow it, do the comparison with a pro so he can dissect it for you and make sure you're in the right shaft.

You can also search Youtube for comparison videos. They're probably out there.

The Ping is way better. The M2 is all marketing.

I got fitted last year and hit both the M2 and Ping G Series. For me, the M2 spun like 800 RPMs less and my launch angle was closer to the ideal. The pro seemed surprised by this result, as the G spun less for most.

Why it's important to get properly fitted. That was 8 yards of carry and 15 yards total in my case. That's one or two clubs closer to every green and likely closer to the center of the fairway.

So the swing monitor numbers in the video I posted were made up? You know...the one where they're almost identical in every category? Or is it that you're just pulling random dumb shite out your arse?

Yeah, I'm going with the second one.

Posters like him are why the ignore feature is so important.

All heads will be very similair in performance these days. Get what fits your eye the best.

Focus on getting the right shaft more than the correct head. As the guys said above, if you have the funds go get fitted by a pro. Shaft is a huge deal.

My cousin bought both. He likes TM Better. I like Ping better, I'm currently bagging it.

I haven't hit the M2 enough but I'd have to say it's all about personal preference.

Wait, we have an ignore feature?

I use the G30. Never swung the M2, though I'd love to...but to say the Ping is "way better" is complete dumbassery.

I got the G 3W over the M2 simply due to price. Someone had traded in a G that looked brand new, and it was $100 cheaper.

They do look different at address, so I would advise you hit both.

I agree but if you aren’t hitting it in the screws consistently then none of it really matters anyways.

Ping G400 is a must hit if the Ping G is in consideration.

G400 feel is amazing compared to the G. (i realize feel is subjective though. YRMV)

ETA: As for your original question. Have hit both. As others have stated, it's all in the right shaft/head pairing for YOUR swing. Watching videos of numbers is fine and dandy, but his angle of attach and smash factor play in an awful lot to those numbers. Distance is not everything with driver. Confidence is more important for dispersion (unless you play on wide open courses all the time). Give me 245 straight vs 255 all over any day. M2 lacked in feel for me, Ping G had weird sound. I am saving for the G400 as sound was much improved and feel was incredible.

Any of you have any experience with Tee it Up Golf in Alexandria? This shop is the closest Oban fitter to me, and I'll be down there in November.

Taylormade has a reputation for marketing new clubs. They released something like 20 drivers in 5 years. They've sense backed off that just a tough, and I think the M1/2 is actually a decent line. But its not that much improved over the R15.

Ping G400 is an improvement on technology and you'll see increased club head speed. Mine jumped 2mph between the TM and G400. Driver is my weakness, so any time I actually see the improvements, I tend to want to get it. Just waiting for the price to drop.

That's where I got fitted for my M2. I don't have anything to compare it with, but I was happy with my results.
