Taking a 4 day golf trip in the Houston area at the end of May. We plan to play Tour 18 and Eagle Pointe, two courses we have played before and enjoyed.

I need suggestions for two other days. Does anyone know if Augusta Pines is a good idea?

Thanks.

AP used to be nice, haven’t played it in 4 years

Walden on Lake Conroe has some nice holes, Woodforest has 27, Wildcat has 36, Blackhorse has 36

Try and get on Bluejack National

Best public golf deal in Houston is the wilderness at lake Jackson, bout an hour outside of town ...

Clear creek in Pearland can't be beat esp for the price.

Not sure if they've opened Gus Wortham back up yet. Pretty unique design and supposed to be super nice after the renovations. Lots of history there.

Memorial is top notch.

It's been a couple of years, but really liked Augusta Pines the few times I've played it.

Augusta Pines is pretty damn good, Wildcat is sweet, Woodforest, Cypresswood and even High Meadow Ranch are nice.

But yeah if you can get on Bluejack DO IT. But it's very hard to get on it.

Always forget about it, but nice track

I thought I heard they were closing for good after the flood? It’s a shame b/c it’s a great public course (36 holes)

Yeah High Meadow is honestly one of my favorites. But yeah haven't been to Cypresswood in forever so I wasn't sure about that.

Really love this course. I know the OP mentioned Eagle Pointe (solid pick). I also like Wildcat and Black Horse if I was rounded out the other 2.

If you are doing a 4 Day trip, spend a day and go play some Hill Country Golf.
I played Augusta Pines last week and it’s in decent condition. Course conditions should be nice for your trip. Played Memorial this Sunday and the fairways were really tight, greens were recently punched. It gets a lot of play so it’s hard on the course but worth the $50,

Damn, that was cold blooded. I was pumped.

So are they going to open? Last I heard they were done. So that would still be some good news to me.

A buddy of mine played in a scramble out there a week ago.

I’m from the Houston area and I’ve played almost all of the courses. Some of my favorites are Eagle Pointe, Wood Forest, Wildcat, Timber Creek, Sienna Plantation and Black Horse. You can’t go wrong with any of these.
Wood Forst has the best greens in Houston.

They may be having some events, but the course is not open to the public. I seent it on their facebook page. They said more info to come soon.

ETA: When it does reopen, we need to have a TDGB Houston tournament.

We have the courses but I wouldn’t take a trip here just to play golf. Not sure if you’re here for something else. That said, as someone said above, I would go to the hill country if I was going to do a golf trip.

Before I joined a club I played a tour 18 a lot. I think you’re going to be a little bit disappointed.
