Golf CC Membership Houston

Living close to downtown it is hard to find a good country club to join. I already have the clubcorp membership but it restricts my weekend play. What have others found as the best bang for their buck when it comes to Houston golf cc memberships?

There are number of clubs offering decent deals since Harvey.

Probably has a membership to one of the downtown clubs. Normally can't play one of the courses from noon Friday- noon Sunday.

Thats what i was thinking, in which case he should just join one of the clubs themselves, then he can play whenever.

All of the good clubs in the city have waiting lists. I'm not sure how much money you have, so that's a big factor. I'd rather play the public tracks until you can get on at a course like lakeside. If money is no issue, if still do the same thing until you can get into HCC,Royal Oaks, etc.

Honestly, if you want bang for your buck Kingwood. 4 courses, two solid practice ranges, access to Deerwood for reduced rate. You are already a One member so could probably swing a deal there. Pool is tight and the gym is nicely done. Don't live there anymore so can't vouch for its condition post Harvey but I imagine they have done a great job cleaning it up.
Also its a route (59/69) is less traveled than 45 (Carolton/Woodlands clubs).
If you have $100k+ to burn, Bluejack all day every day.

I would second Kingwood too, now that everything is cleaned up. Heck, the courses didn't really even get phased. Not sure about access to Deerwood though unless you pay for it. My membership didn't give access to anything other than dining there.
I know a few dudes that live downtown and in Fall Creek but drive the family to Kingwood (especially during the Summer) and let them hangout at the waterpark while they play golf. They even let you drop kids off at the day care so you can go play.

It depends on what is important to you. Are you under 35? If so you'd be eligible for Jr memberships at many clubs around town. If you have a family, perhaps the waterpark-type amenities at Kingwood would be worth the extra mileage. I also live just west of downtown and Westwood, Braeburn, Riverbend, and Pine Forest (in order of drive time) are all within 30 min of my house. All of those clubs have (or have had in the past) reasonable deals for junior memberships. And each has varying levels of social amenities that may or not matter to you. Kingwood is over 40 min, and even if you did have 100k to burn, Bluejack, as nice as it may be, is totally impractical at a 1hr 10 min drive time. I haven't played the updated track but the old Blaketree course was a blast.

If you want a true golf only experience, Golf Club of Houston or Champions Golf Club would be your best bet. Golf is #1 at both of these clubs.
A healthy balance of golf and amenities, Kingwood all day.
So much cash and time it doesn't matter - River Oaks, Houston CC, Lochinvar, etc.
We need a lot more information from you to give you real advice.

Just become a full member at hearthstone or magnolia creek and then you can play any clubcorp course anytime for free (with some limitations.)my buddy I played with yesterday is a member at the downtown club and he is probably going to join hearthstone even though it’s probably the worst of the clubcorp courses in the area. Hell just join golf trail of the woodlands and get unlimited access to the 3 up here which are all really nice courses.

Best bang for your buck will be Riverbend. I’m pretty sure the initiation fee is only around $500 and the course is decent. I’m next door at Sugar Creek and really like it. I grew up at Braeburn and my wife at Lakeside so we will probably be making me move to one of those in the near future, but SCCC is perfect for us now.

I get flyers in the mail from pine forest every couple of months. Is it actually decent? Prices didn’t seem bad

Courses inside the beltway are pricey. Braeburn is probably the best deal if you want to stay inside, but the assessments have run a few of my friends away.
Pine Forest is tight. Club house is good, but I don’t care for the track.
Royal Oaks is great, but they’ve got a waiting list last I heard.
Northgates is not terrible, but the membership is so-so. Probably the best deal since it’s paired with Walden on Lake Conroe.
The Woodlands CC and Kingwood CC give you the most options.

Did Pine Forest get wrecked during the flood? I have never heard of this place until you guys said something about it. I also never ventured that direction unless it was to play Meadowbrook before it went to trash. Circa 2008 that place was probably the best public access course in the city. Greens got destroyed by some fungus.
