What are some of your favorite gimmick holes that you have played during a tournament?

Free 5 iron
Hit in the 10' circle on par 3's
I have played one where you stood on a mattress to hit your tee shot. That was pretty fun. Anymore?

Had one "farthest from the hole" on a par 3 a couple years ago. Ball had to be on the green (fringe did not count) though.

Swing lefty (for a righty) from the ladies tees on a par 3. Tourney supplied the lefty clubs. I made solid contact but wasn't close to the green. Snap hooked it.

I played in a tournament that gave out frozen Red Bull vodkas at the turn. Then you had to go play the back 9. That was fun.

At the Southern Miss baseball tournament there was a hole that we had to:

Place a tee on a tee ball tee
Hit the ball with a baseball bat
Watch people hit the tee and miss the ball

We had our superintendent's revenge tournament on July 4. It's a 2-man scramble where every hole is a gimmick. One par 3 the super placed a tee in every ball mark on a par 3 making putting difficult. One par 4 involved teeing off with an old persimmon and putting out with an old school bullseye. One par 3 had 3 flags with different sized holes. If you putted out in the standard sized hole you took that score. Smaller hole you subtracted 1 and larger hole you added one

Another one is a mystery hole. Two holes on the green one flag.

Another gimmick format.... everyone teed off from the tips. (2 man scramble). If you birdied the hole you moved up a marker. If you bogeyed you moved back. You could essentially be playing from seniors/ladies tees.

This is awesome... bet it made some people look at repairing their pitch marks in the future.

I like this one too.

We have the superintendent's revenge every year. Holes are cut on top of ridges or side of slopes on every hole. It's played as a 2 man scramble, and there's a 5 putt maximum on each hole that is reached by plenty of groups.

It's fun to play once a year, but it is pretty frustrating by the middle of the round.

In a scramble I play each year, you pay $20 and get to pick a card from A-10. There is a corresponding sign in the fairway from which you get to tee it up on a par 5. #6 at Wetlands. You can pay and pick as much as you want. It's all for charity.

We had two or more holes on every green. Blue flag was set in the toughest spot we could find in the green. Red flag(s) easiest. Sometimes multiple red flags holes and big "8 cups on a few greens.

Anyone in a dress could tee from ladies tees and putt in any hole.

No dress played back of back tees and only putt to blue flags. If they screwed up and holes a red flag it was a penalty.

Just nine holes. Had a blast and got drunk.

So you and your partner both draw cards and than decide what #sign to hit from?

4 man scramble. Someone puts up $20 then pulls. If it's a Q, the whole group hit from the sign in the fairway that has the Queen on it.

We've done in the past

Shortest drive past the ladies tees. That was the biggest prize to tempt people.

If you didn't get it past the ladies tees......

Inside the circle. You could bet different amounts for each of the circles.

Tournament at The Bluffs a few years back, the gimmick hole was the long, big drop-off par 3 (8? / 17?)--played about 187yd, I believe.

You had to sit on a porcelain toilet (tank was removed) and swing. Closest to the pin won a Scotty Cameron Putter. My buddy won it with one of the worst Driver ball flights I've ever seen. He hit it left toward the trees, then it sliced all the way back to the pin to about 10-12' short of the cup.

Much harder than you think.

Had a tournament for all the marshals in the BREC system a few years ago, I was the Gimmick! Stood on a damn tee box for 8 hours hitting tee shots (Par 5) for anyone who paid me $5...Walked out with about $350 and a shite ton of NITRO for those old guys. I had to basically ask each group if they wanted to participate and Hit 1-2 tee shots per group.

My back was fricked up for weeks after that!

Played in a fund raiser for the UL golf team and they had one of the team members hitting tee shots on a par 5 if you paid for it. Our salesman I was playing with paid the $5 or whatever it was and then I out drove the guy by about 5 yards
