Can you use that place to get a reading on your clubs or is it not very accurate?

It is definitely not accurate. I think they add a significant amount of distance.

I was hitting driver 290-300 in there, on the course I am in the 270-280 range if I hit it well

You would get better readings at a golf shop. The one at Dick's sporting goods near lakeside mall is pretty accurate.
