I'm not new to golf and I've had several sets of clubs though they have all been standard hand me downs from friends. I've been playing more often and I'd like to get a better set more suited to my frame.

The issue I'm having is that I'm a short and stocky guy.

I'm 4'11" 180 lbs and it's really difficult for me to play with a standard set of clubs.

I've had sets cut but even those still didn't feel right for me.

Are there any recommendations on a set of clubs for shorter men? I've scoured the interwebs and most just suggested getting a nice Jr set though I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I'm thinking they would feel cheap or not perform properly due to the strength difference between myself and someone a 1/4 of my age.

Have you been properly fitted by a professional? If not I'd get that done first, and secure their opinion on how your clubs should be adjusted. I'd go to one of the best. On the northhshore I'd recommend James Leitz or Rob Noel.

I would get fitted for sure. Simply cutting down the club changes a lot of the traits of said club. I don’t think a good junior set is the answer either, but maybe someone who has experience with that can give you an answer. If those would help id 100% consider it though.

Are women’s clubs shorter? I’m not sure they make women’s clubs like they used to, just change up the shafts?????

Thanks for the response. I've not been fitted but I think I will go that route. I'm in Lafayette so I'll have to find something here.

I've looked at some unisex clubs but even those I think aren't really sided appropriate for me. Haven't looked hard into women's clubs but that may be an option too. As long as I can get a set that isn't pink. Seems like they are all pink.

Need to get fitted man.
Women’s/unisex/junior is NOT the answer.
Depending on which club you choose, you will probably be 1-1.5” shorter than standard. Probably about 2 flat.
Look for demo days at local courses or see a retailer. Guys at golfballs could probably take care of you.

Buddha at Bebu Golf Studio on the west bank. You have to book an appt on his website. I think you can add notes to the appt request so he’ll know what you’re trying to accomplish.
