It's only a couple of hours from Chitown to Koehler. I played one of the Blackwolf Run Courses last summer and it was awesome. Meadow Valleys, which is the "lesser" of their two courses. Twighlight rate was reasonable. You could also do the Irish at Whistlng Straights at Twighlight

Harborside is your closest to the city. It's expensive and typically crowded. Always windy too. They have 36 holes if your looking for 2 rounds.
If you have a car, go to lost marsh which is in Indiana about 30 min from chicago.
Don't play Sidney marovich which is in the city.
A course that is rarely brought up is Mistwood and the Highlands of Elgin. Both are about an hour from the city but great courses.
