I was stationed a FE Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY from 94-98, and the course there was pretty nice...have no clue how it is now, once I left, I've never been back

I'm curious always heard rumors that Air Force bases have golf courses, is this true? Are they nice? Ever played one? Do you have to be in the air force to play one?

I've played the Patuxent Naval Base in Maryland a few times. It's actually pretty decent. Condition is usually good, and the layout is nice, has some very unique holes. My inlaws used to live there. FIL worked for the Navy. They moved back here to NC now. Makes me want to play that course again, but I guess that'll never happen.

Has anyone played Warrior Hills lately? The pictures of the course looks nice. Wondering if it would be worth a drive in the future.

Has the military population at Ft. Polk been reduced substantially?

Yes, the 5th ID shipped to Hood, and we got JRTC from Chaffee I think lfrom Arkansas. Went from over 10000 troops to around 7000 or so. Money is a little tighter than it was 20-30 years ago. Just like someone stated if the general plays, course will benefit.

I don't know how the Army operates their golf courses, but in the Air Force they can't use appropriated funds (tax dollars) on the golf course. Has to be self sustaining through members and open play.
