I was following the post from many of you receiving the “regrets” email. After 14 years of receiving that email I finally won 4 tickets to the 2020 Wednesday practice round. We got pushed back to this upcoming Masters and it looks like we are set to go.

For anyone who has been to a Wednesday practice round, do they require you to get off the main course whenever the Par 3 contests begins? I know it would be cool to see the Par 3 but I also think it would be just as cool to stay on the course with very few people. I am pretty sure I heard that the players have to stop practicing on the course by the time the Par 3 starts, but have no clue what the patrons limitations are.

Keep putting that application in, hopefully y’all’s turn is coming up.

I have some bad news for you...

ETA: Apparently not. Good for you sir. Hopefully sometime in the next 30 years I won't receive the regrets.

They deferred all 2020 practice round tix to 2021, and if you didn't make the 25% lottery for 2021, you got deferred to 2022. Got a buddy who will get to go next year via this route.

I don’t think that’s accurate, but maybe. We didn’t catch the start of the par 3, we walked over when golfers we liked were teeing off.

I honestly don’t remember a whole lot about the par 3. I enjoyed just walking the regular course and getting a feel for the elevation changes and insane shape the course was in that you can’t appreciate on TV.

You do not have to get off the course when the par 3 starts. There will be players still practicing on the main course and patrons still watching them. We watched about an hour of the Par 3 and went back to walking the course.

Thanks for the response. I am glad to hear that we can still stay on the regular course, which is what I’d prefer.

The big course is definitely still open. After the par 3, we went back to the big course and were some of the only people on a few holes. No one was playing at that time, but we could walk right up to the ropes next to a few greens. It was a great chance to get some good photos.

You definitely don't have to leave the main course when the Par 3 begins, and players will be practicing on the main course throughout the day. We were watching Dufner on the main course when Finau had his Hole In One and rolled his ankle.

Been twice. 09 & 19. Never crossed my mind to go to the Par 3 tournament. In 09 I walked the entire course twice just to see the different players and how they prepared for the tournament. The only time it was crowded was at the golf merchandise shop. Oriental guy in front of me bought $13,000.00 in merchandise and his credit card rejected the sale. After about 10 minutes he found out that he had a $5000.00 cap per purchase, so they broke the sale down to 3 purchases. 19 was a multi-fuster cluck. It rained so much on Tuesday that green mud was every where. There were so many patrons that it felt like a Mardi Gras crowd. 19 was the only time I won the ticket lottery. I have signed up for 13 straight years and won once. I took 3 buddies that had never been to the Masters and we only got to see 2/3 of the course in 10-1/2 hours due to the huge crowd & all the green mud.

You do not. You can stay on course, which I recommend. There are no concessions on the par 3 course (at least not when I went in 11). Stay on course, post up at a par 3 and have some beers.

The par 3 is a shite show of humanity. You literally can’t move, take a piss, get a beer. It’s unique if you’ve never been and you wanna camp out and put a chair down go for it.

My recommendation….. find someone willing to plunk down $1500 for par 3s and buy some Mondays for half that price.

We sat on the side of the 5th hole on the Par 3 course in 2013. You can see 3 green, all of the 4th hole, and the 6th hole. Right behind you though the trees, there is a concession stand and restroom just a few yards away. It wasn’t super crowded at that spot. It’s also a narrow path between the gallery rope and the pond there so the players walk really close to you there. Arnie looked right at me and gave me a thumbs up. Something I won’t ever forget.

Went in 2015ish and can’t recommend the par 3 more. We were the year Jack made a hole in one. I think it was in the same 5-6-7 stretch.

We followed tiger the year we went on Wednesday and we’re late going to the par 3 with the other 100k people who did the same. When we got over there it was impossible to find a place to sit or even stand to see basically and we ended up leaving early.

If you’re going to do the par 3 go drop chairs or get over there early to get a good view

We were at Augusta a few year's ago on a Wed when Jack's grandson made the hole in one. We were on the regular course because you couldn't move around on the par 3. We went to Amen Corner where there was only a handful of people and we watched as the grounds crew prepared the area for the next day.
