Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4

Looking to get back into gaming, and I'm just wondering what the pros and cons are of each. My main use for it would be gaming (have Apple TV for Netflix, WatchESPN, etc.). None of my friends are gamers so being able to play online with them isn't an issue.
Thanks in advance

With you only interested in games and not other features, I'd suggest the PS4. Really, though, you can't go wrong either way.
If I were you, I'd either buy an XBox One S (available now) or wait a couple months for the PS4 Pro.
XBox One S Madden Bundle $349
PS4 Pro $399 Available November 10

Depends mostly on exclusives and what you like to play. Everything else can be considered a wash and don't let others try and convince you otherwise

While you may have Apple TV for all those streaming apps, it is seamless with the One. I play my TV through it, can launch any of the streaming services with a couple buttons and jump into a game very quickly. I have always been an PS guy but my PS4 has not been used much lately. I should say, the PS4 can do the streaming as well, but the TV aspect is what has me anchored to the One.

If mods are going to become more common for console games, then go Xbone considering Sony won't let mods on their system. I play a lot of RPG games though. If your a COD/Sports type of guy then not sure this will make much difference.

that's my main thing I enjoy playing..like Final Fantasy, which is exclusive to PS4..only thing turning me off about the Xbone. How's RPG play on the Xbone?

Well FF isn't exclusive anymore; the new one will be on PS4 and XBone. Having said that PS4 does still have the edge when it comes to exclusives. The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Infamous:SS, Bloodbourne and Ratchet & Clank are all highly regarded exclusives.
The two consoles are basically the same otherwise. I would recommend the ps4; if you have a 4K TV wait six weeks for the Pro if you like shiny new graphics.

Rarely touch my PS4.
My XBone is the centerpiece of my entertainment system.

If interested in just games and especially if you are a cord cutter, go with the PS4. Sony has their own TV service called PS Vue.

I couldn't tell you. I have a PS4 and I'm pretty pissed about the mod situation for FO4 and upcoming Skyrim RM. This would also include the next Bethesda game, which I'm going to assume is ES6

Final Fantasy is multi play. Only the spin offs are exclusive. Like world, XII, and vii.

PS4 Pro.
My Xbox One S is strictly a 4K BR player and dust collector beyond that.

Most of the games I get are of the jrpg and strategy variety, and I think the PS4 gets more exclusives in those genres. Multi-player isn't a big deal to me. I plan on getting the PS4 as soon as Ni No Kuni 2 comes out.

Persona 5, but I know it's on PS3 as well.

It's mostly about exclusive franchises. Xbox has Forza, Halo, GoW, and a few others. Sony has Uncharted/The Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Bloodbourne and some other games that I am sure I'm forgetting.
Outside of that, do you have friends that play online? You will get the most mileage out of whatever console your friends play on.
All that aside, PS4 is currently the most powerful console with by and large the best performance on multi platform titles.
I rarely play my Xbox One as opposed to my PS4 mostly for that reason combined with not being much of a competitive multiplayer gamer.
