Xbox One Problems

I'm trying to help my little brother troubleshoot some problems on his Xbox One. My first diagnosis is that he has a goddamn piece of shite Xbox One.
Second, this thing is being really really slow. It's taking forever to login. It's taking forever to navigate. It's like it's acting like one of those old white tower PC's that's infected with a bunch of porn viruses. I mean that's what I've heard about those things anyway.
It's saying stuff like "Guide took too long to start" and "Sign in took too long to start".
Before we set this turd on fire and trade it in for a PS4, is there any kind of known problems like this that we can troubleshoot?

Shitty internet connection?
Hold the power button to hard reset and try again
Doesn't work go out and buy a PS4
proceed to throw the PS4 into a dryer and turn on more dry

Yeah it's just really really sluggish and unresponsive. I'll try this hard reset.

Change the DNS settings
Also if he has an external HD moving all of your games to that can really speed things up.

That's strange man.
Like Pevy said, my first instinct would be to think it's on a slow connection or needs an update.
Make sure it's hard wired. Check for updates.

The reset may have helped. What a piece of crap.
@KK, I'm at my parents. It's not gonna be hard wired here in old people land. The Internet is meh here but not awful. I think Pevy helped.

All I know is that the Netflix app is fricking garbage. I super love the 30 seconds it takes for it to register that I'm pressing buttons.

I've had similar problems on my son's XBone. It will never connect to his Xbox Live. We'll switch on the 360 and it works just fine.

Reddit by way of Google says that although you can temporarily fix this by hard resetting, the only way to permanently fix it is to get it replaced assuming it is sill under warranty.
I did find one post that suggests making sure the power mode isn't on "energy saving." You can find this in you "power mode and startup" under settings. I would obviously at least try this one first and then combine that with a hard reset.

So what's wrong with it ? Does it play games? I have both xbone and ps4 and I can't understand your problem because all your Doing is complaining. The xbone is slower dashboard and navigation wise. If I'm playing a game and want to snap an app and then go to friends list it can take a good 2-3 second delay... PS4 on other hand would breeze right through it all.
But it plays games. And works like it should. I don't see your problem other than saying it's slow

It's dramatically sluggish. I'll try to navigate and it takes 30 seconds or more to respond. It doesn't play games. It isn't letting me access much in the settings.
It's just a lemon I guess. He's going to get a PS4.
