Are your batteries dying?

It is a common problem unfortunately. If you are anywhere farther than about 12 feet the signal drops in and out. It also is amplified if there is a lot of interference like a router, microwave, etc. around.

2 things that help slightly are plugging up the controller up to the Xbox with a USB and updating the controller firmware and also getting a play and charge kit instead of AA batteries.

The charge kit vs batteries made a difference for me. The firmware really didn't do anything but others have said it helped. Good luck.

make sure you dont have anything in front of your xbox. i had mine set up behind the tv and it would lose connection all the time. as soon as i moved to the front, havent had a problem since.

Yeah I thought it was from moving it from my bedroom to the LR in the media cabinet,so I moved it to on top of the cabinet and it shut off again.I ordered the charger from Amazon so I hope it fixes it.Thanks for all the responses.
