Xbox 360 Hard Drive question

What is the hard drive used for? I am debating between the $299 and $399 one.
Is it used to store your photos/music from your computer or does it just connect to your PC and reads the stuff off of the pc?

for Downloading game demos, game and movie trailers, movies, music, game content.. get the one with the hard drive.. u will need it..

I dont do any of that stuff so I got the 20gb harddrive. I have only used 9gb of 20 and I dont see myself filling it up anymore.

I have a ton of videos, games, and other content and I still have plenty of space on my 20gb HD. I guess it depends on how much you're going to download from the marketplace.

Even though I said I had the 20gb, if I actually had time to explore all the uses of the xbox 360 I would probably opt for the larger hard drive. However, the only thing I have ever downloaded was the maps for COD4 and I wish I hadnt. That and various game updates.

november live update is going to enable installing games to the drive, I would have gone with a bigger one.
