The Wii U hasn't even passed the GameCube in sales and probably won't They aren't even at half the sales right now and it's been 4 years since release. People can downvote all they want but it doesn't change the fact that consoles aren't selling like they used to. The fact that consoles in general all have to hang their hats on the PS4's sales speaks volumes. Both the Xbone and the Wii U are dead in the water. Barely over 10 million consoles sold 3 and 4 years later respectively. This coming off a generation in which all 3 companies had their consoles sell at least 80 million with the PS3 bringing up the rear at 83 million, the 360 at 84 million, and the Wii at over 100 million consoles sold.
LOL what? PS4 is having a better start than the PS2 did. And that is pretty much the king of sales for consoles.

2 years from just the middle of this console generation. Last generation were both 10 years.

Literally nobody is talking about the Wii U and they aren't even making any more new games for it.

Yeah they are selling even better

Xbone is crushing 360 sales

I can tell you know absolutely nothing. The Xbone isn't even on pace to match the 360. 19 million (What Microsoft reported the sales were at the end of January) 3 years after launch is not going to catch 84 million consoles sold in 4 more years. They already have their Halo game out. Witcher isn't PC/Xbox exclusive anymore. Xbone isn't going to do shite this generation.

If I could trade my PS4 in and be guaranteed at least 200 towards a new one (and the new one is in fact only 399), I'd be down for basically a 200$ upgrade.

Sorry I was thinking of when they directly said that this generation would be 10 years....

Xbox 360 had sold 17.7m in that same time frame....

"Start" is the word I am using because you are using total PS2 sales which has nothing to do with the argument.
For example (This is the latest article I could find about it) LINK
As of 5 months ago PS4 had sold 29.3 Million. The PS2 had only sold 24.99 million over the same "start" period.
Now the PS4 is around 39-40 million
You are comparing total sells numbers to a generation that isn't even half way over.
If you don't believe the PS4 will at least pass up the PS3 I don't know what to tell you. It is not slowing down and if the rumors are true about another paycut and 4.5 version it will see another surge.

If this rumor is true, the salt will be unreal.
The poster has been verified by a mod as well. Although it could be an early April fools joke.

It seems obvious to me that this upgrade is primarily about shoring up the tech specs to support the PS VR. While the first-line PS4's may be able to run VR, it won't run it anywhere near what Rift and Vine will. A faster CPU will help with the stuttering that's been reported with the PS VR.

That's where I am, and if it's like the 3DS to New 3DS there will be some retailer that does a similar offering.
