Spelunker

I never knew anyone who could get past the first level, even my video game obsessed friends who could beat any game.

Nothing will ever top The Lion King on SNES imo. That was an insanely difficult game.

It was just that one jump that was hard. I didn’t find the rest terribly difficult.

Tmnt was a difficult game and had some issues, but was pretty solid and by no means bad.

The Star Wars games on SNES were tough, but good. As for worst game, there are a lot of nominations, but Friday the 13th was absolute dogshit.

The AVGN certainly agrees with you. I had never heard of this game until he unearthed this turd and played it for us.

That game deserves its reputation.

The main part of the game (Jeckyl) is a walking simulator where you occasionally avoid bombs, bratty kids, dead birds falling from the sky, and music notes coming from fat ladies singing opera.

The Hyde portion of the game is a more traditional NES game but you instantly lose if Hyde ever gets further along the path than Jeckyl.

Biggest issue with that last part is that it is extremely easy to start the game, get killed by a bomb as Jeckyl within thirty seconds, then have Hyde pass Jeckyl’s spot and get hit by lightning about 30 seconds after that.

I finished BC a couple of times, but it was difficult. The mere concept of an action game where your protagonist can't jump was sheer madness. This is doubly so when you consider the mechanics of the arcade version that preceded it.

A gun that doesn't shoot all the way across the screen is a head-scratcher, too.
