As someone that played WoW hardcore for a period of time, no. Not at all. Just because something has the same amount of levels and you get different weapons as you level up, its not an mmorpg. Sorry.

I detailed to you in my previous post why it's different.

The carrot leading the horse mentality of the games is what I am referring to..

WoW = You must level up in order to achive certain feats..

Same in MW2

In order to level up you must have a higher XP.. Same in MW2. The XP difference between levels grow higher requiring more and more game time. You do know that MW2 is considered a MMORPG by the developers right?

No Im talking about the built in MMORPG of MW2.

The designers did it on purpose. The whole level up and prestige thing along with equiping weapons creating your class etc... This doesnt seem a little WoW to some of you?? Hell they even set the top levels the same as what WoW used to be. Its a brilliant model to make $$$$ if you ask me but Im not a fan of how it takes over your life.

Wow (or should I say WoW).

I couldn't disagree more with that.

So basically you're referring to 99% of modern games?

If you want to be technical, you can say that when you start a dynasty on NCAA with some crappy team you have to "level up" your team by playing well and slowly getting better recruiting classes until you eventually win the championship.

if i had to guess, i would say you are not a competitive person

some people, like myself, on the other hand, like i have said numerous times before want to be the best at everything, i dont care if its tiddlywinks, i want to be the best, this goes espcially for games in which my stats and numbers are put on front street for everyone to see and judge

Penn,
I assumed he was this guy:

quote:

I bet you are the guy that use to bat last on your childhood baseball team. You know. The one that all the kids hated coming to bat b/c he would always strike out but then you would come in the dugout and say how the last strike was a ball or that you at least took a good cut at it...

and with every post he makes...i'm almost certain of it

Again, I disagree.

quote:

Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of computer role-playing games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world.

As in all RPGs, players assume the role of a fictional character (often in a fantasy world),[1] and take control over many of that character's actions.[2] MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player RPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, usually hosted by the game's publisher, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game. This is often referred to being offline, or AFK (away from keyboard).

That's nothing like MW2 really. MW2 is just an online FPS. I'll give that it's "online" and a shite ton of people play it. But that's really about it.

Exactly.

This game is nothing like WoW. Completely different in fact, except that both can be played online, and both are played by lots of people.

Ok go google MMORPG and Infinity Ward

IM NOT CALLING IT A MMORPG because I think it is (which I am a software developer btw) THE GAMES developers call it a MMORPG and designed it with that intent into the game. Thats what Im saying. Maybe you dont think it is but they certainly do.

You know what? I'll do just that...

I googled it, and this was the first link:
LINK
quote:

In November of last year we reported on a story suggesting that Activision was considering the Call of Duty franchise for an MMOG. This didn't come to the surprise of many, after all, what isn't being considered for the MMOG treatment these days?

However, a new report over at Destructoid is now suggesting that Infinity Ward is actively staffing up to get this project off the ground, and is tapping former SOE and Blizzard talent to do it.

Would you play a Call of Duty MMOG? Why? Why not? Let us know in the comments below!

So the IW team is looking into developing a CoD MMOG.

This is a link to a message board discussing the same topic....IW loooking into the idea of creating a MMORPG for CoD.

So every link I am seeing says that IW is staffing up to potentially look into creating a Call of Duty MMOG. None of the links (not one) says anything about MW2 being a MMORPG.

This is me laughing at you ~~~~>

The K/D ratio is just one way to prove that you are better/worse than someone else. Its more important than wins/losses IMO because you cant alawys choose your team.

I just like mine to be above 2.0. If it's below 2.0, I can't sleep at night.
