Whatcha' been playing? What do you think of it? (Aug 2013)

Since August is over, I figured I'd start another one of these threads to find out what everyone has been up to. Also figured it might be a good idea to do this before GTA V hits.
I've been playing...
Spelunky
I love this game. A super challenging, perma-death, platformer with randomly generated levels and loads of secrets. I'm addicted to it. Death is frequent but rarely feels cheap since the systems at play are clear and affect player and enemy alike.
Gone Home
This is a cool first person exploration game, similar to Dear Esther, but much better. Has a great atmosphere and a good story that's fun to piece together. However, $20 bucks is too steep for it's length.
Uncharted 3
I've been playing this game off and on for nearly a year and finally beat it last night. It might be my least favorite of the Uncharted games. I enjoyed the locations of 1 and 2 more, and 2 had multi-storied level designs that set up some really interesting and fun combat situations. The combat in this one, however, felt regressive and often tedious. Still, in Uncharted fashion it has some impressive set piece / action movie moments and a fun story.

The Bureau: Xcom Declassified - it was OK, as someone who played the original PC games and the updated version, it was fun.
Saints Row IV - good game, like a super power sandbox.

I know what you mean. I bought the "Brave New World" expansion from Amazon a few days ago and started up another campaign. Still addictive as ever.

Borderlands 2- maybe top 5 non Halo game for me. I cannot express in words how addictive this game is to me.
NCAA yes. it has flaws. but its like the sort of overweight girl that is just amazing in bed. sure, you don't brag to your friends you spend time with it, but secretly you enjoy pounding away at it.

You playing solo or with friends? I tried it solo for a few hours and it wasn't grabbing me but I could see it being a blast with other people. I'll return to it one day.

Arkham City - Awesome game, defeated Hugo last night so next time I play I should be able to finish the game.
Link's Awakening - Never played it before and it has been really fun. The only thing I dislike about it is switching inventory items a lot. The game came before all the controller button options. Other than that though it has been fun playing a classic zelda for the first time again.

Wow! I remember playing that on my original Gameboy. I think I still actually have the cartridge and manual for it, in fact.

Just finished The Last of Us
Great story, but didn't live up to the incredible hype.

Still haven't played this yet. Waiting for a friend to finish it so I can borrow it from them without having to spend $60.
It continues to pop up in game of the year discussions, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I recently beat Fire Emblem: Awakening. Got super lucky on 6 consecutive dual guards to beat endgame.
I've been spending most of my time on Final Fantasy XIV. Tales of Xillia is what I'm currently on for PS3 and NCAA14 on 360.
I never beat Uncharted on Vita, so I started that back up while on RV trip back from Dallas. It's very good and I'm about 1/3 through that.
