So, i just happened to stumble upon this glorious site

LINK

Using that as a baseline to build a "budget" gaming PC for some customers with maximum value on minimum dollars, im leaning with the following:

GFX: EVGA GeForce 650 for $100 after mir
LINK

CPU: $109 AMD-FX3100 3.3 ghz upto 3.9 ghz
LINK

Mobo: Asus Socket am3+ $60
LINK

Mobo only supports 8 gb max.. meh, but 8 gb of 1866 mhz though which should be enough id think?

Subtotal for 3 components
$280

Can move up to a 2 GB 650 for about $60 more if the customer wants

Thoughts? Can anyone do better for under $300 for all 3? this looks good to me. Probably would only need a 550w PSU? Run of the mill case, no SSD, 1 TB HDD, ghetto optical drive

Im not against intel or Radeons but like AMD for budget builds and prefer evga geforces over radeons from personal experience but thats limited

no you don't. If you have a laptop that has x64 win7 on it go here. and get a copy. When asked for your activation key, just use the one that's on the service tag on the bottom of your laptap(if it's a dell it's under the battery). It has to be the exact same version though. If it has 64-bit home premium, download 64-bit home premium. You can use 32-bit if it's a last resort but you won't be able to utilize all 8 gigs of ram.(I think it's 3 max but don't quote me on that). It's 100% legit install. I've done it for every computer in my house.

ETA; Oh and you'll need this.

Yeah I ain't got all that. My personal system uses a hacked win7 a coworker loaned me, before moving to California. No longer available. But thanks for the tip, others may have some legit cd keys we can "borrow"

i'll give you one to try. I don't give a damn. It will give you 30 days to activate it even if the first one doesn't work.

question.

I just started the rebuild of my PC. 3 years ago it was beast but will need a new graphics card and mobo if I wanted to game. I picked up a 27" Samsung with a 2ms response time. sexy.

anyhow, problem is my location in the apartment. Really difficult to get my cable ran over there, pretty much impossible.

so I got a dual band wireless card that the connection just isn't very consistent. Sometimes 12MB sometimes 2MB with shitty 39 second ping.

But lets say that I had a sneaky plan to get the cable ran over there.

Would I then have 12MB + 20 MB(what my wired Xbox gets) = 32MB?

or does it not work like that? I dunno, I've never had dual connections.

It won't rob one or the other that much. I have both wired and have no problems if they are both running at the same time.

it's possible i might end up with 3 connections.

2 wired, 1 wireless.

1 from AT&T U-Verse 20MB down, 10up
1 wireless AT&T U-Verse 20MB down, 10 up (current mehh connection)
1 wired outlet Comcast which is included in monthly rent. no idea of connection.

i figure all 3 together would be pretty potent.
