I'm just getting into Warhammer 40k. I'm starting on a custom Blood Angels subchapter and a custom Drukhari faction.
Any good resources or tips from the seasoned players on the process? TIA.

Definitely came up with a system for that

I think the biggest thing I'm trying to figure out is how much creative liberty one can have with a custom faction and still be lore friendly. There's a lot that encompasses the 40k universe and at this point I'm trying to wrap my head around it.

Oh boy, where do we start? You’re talking about the tabletop war game, right?

Ok, well let’s simplify it. You want either space marines or drukhari. Decide that first.

Sounds like you want space marines. And specifically blood angels. Ok. I love blood angels.
1. If you’re making a custom chapter, don’t say sub chapter. Successor chapter is the correct terminology. Founding chapters and successor chapters don’t necessarily have anything in common other than the gene seed. They’re either blood angels or not
2. Have you read anything about the rules or how you want to play. If you’re dead set on the blood angels, you can go right in with some of the blood angels specific stuff like Dante, death company, etc.

What I’d suggest though is start out slow. Get your 500 points of generic space marines and add on more over time to shot your play style. Let me know what other questions you have
