Anyone playing? I just purchased it.

Not that big of a tennis fan, but thought it would be cool to have as I enjoy most sport games.

I bought it out of curiousity. I remember playing Top Spin on Dreamcast way back when.

The game play is excellent and so far pretty challenging. The tutorials are good though.

Mario tennis and golf for game mboy were the shite. They were like an rpg and sports game in one.

I was going to say whichever one was on Dreamcast was my favorite and never got back into the tennis games.

I finished the tutorial/academy. Anyone else having trouble getting used to having to use the left stick to both move and aim?

Example: ball is incoming, then moving your player towards the back right of the baseline to field the shot (down and right on the left stick) and then having immediately having to point the left stick up and to the left to aim the ball to the opposite corner of the court, all while trying to time the shot meter. It feels as if when I'm pointing the left stick to aim the shot that it is going to mess with my player movement. It's probably all mental

I've been emulating Top Spin 4 on RPCS3, and from watching side by side clips, the games look very similar. Top Spin 4 is very fun though, so I'm sure it will be a good game. Just not sure if it's worth the price if you have the ability to emulate.

I've been playing the shite out of this game.

Gameplay is top notch, as good as we've ever seen for a tennis game.

Career mode is severely lacking, too many shortcomings to even bring up. But gameplay is carrying this one.

I imagine I'll play it nonstop for about 2-3 weeks then never again. Gameplay only goes so far, though I generally don't play online ranked sports games, other than Fifa. But I can see a world where I get into ranked matches on this game.

Yea, it's tricky but with practice, you'll get it.

Hard to explain but at some point even before you start the shot and get to the location you want, your guy is basically locked in to the shot, if that makes sense... and from there you can then focus on the location you want to aim for.

What difficulty are you guys playing offline on?

I started on Hard, within a couple of days I've advanced to Very Hard.

I'm probably in between where I'm too good for Hard and not quite good enough for Very Hard. But that's fine, I still have room for improvement.

I always worry about gamed with no sliders, if you're either stuck in between levels or reach a point where the toughest level is too easy, you basically have no way out of those situations and the game becomes unplayable.

If you hold the left stick after you start your swing and before you hit the ball can move you out of optimal position. This seems more apparent when pushing up for a deep shot. Though the behavior isn't consistent. Sometimes once you start holding the swing button, you are locked in place. Other times I've seen the player move.

The direction of the left stick only directs the ball at the time that you release the swing button.

So once you start holding the swing button, you can let the left stick go back to neutral. Then move it to the direction you want right before you release the swing button.

That makes sense. I played some more last night, and it does seem the player locks into the swing when you're near the ball and begins the swing, and then you don't need to worry about player movement anymore

Y’all are thinking of Virtua Tennis another awesome game. The first top spin came out first on the OG Xbox and it was built just like virtua tennis.
