My son is wanting to order a custom build. I've never been much of a PC gamer and I'm a Mac guy anyway so no idea if everything is as it needs to be. Will ship at $900. Not so much looking for a spec by spec analysis, just a quick look to see if everything looks ok taken as a whole:

The best bang for the buck is to build it and there are people on here than can point you in the right direction and help along the way. I just pointed a friend to this board because she wants to build her first computer. I have built two with the help of this board.

Do you need all of the periphs? If not, 1000 will build a very nice pc. If so, you can still build a better rig than the one you listed.

What games will your son play? Will the pc be used for anything else?

Gonna hand it over to him:

Only gaming, first person shooters, and games like skyrim, RPGs I guess you'd say, and just pretty much all kind of games, once I have it in wanting to try out a bunch of new types I could never really get into console gaming.

Funnily enough, when I see these Cyberpower build specs posted, I usually skip straight to the GPU to see how bad it is. It's actually not the worst part of this particular build. That CPU. Jesus Christ.

That's the wrong way to do it. Weaknesses in certain areas will severely hinder performance. Over-abundance in other areas indirectly hinder performance by contributing to an overall poorly balanced build for X amount of money.

I'll just leave this here:
