actually the music and dystopian setting and the infusion of technology in an ancient world gave me a FFX feeling
but overall watching it, playing it, it just felt like that ocarina feeling...holy shite, i'm going to have to wait over a year too

Zelda is one title IDGAF about timelines. The experience of each game/world/story is so epic that IDC if everyone makes any sense or connected. The fact that evil vs good is an on going battle and a hero must appear to suppress that evil is enough for me.

Agreed. The timeline stuff is interesting on it's own, but I treat every Zelda game as it's own thing and leave it at that.
And I'm still not convinced Nintendo's timeline isn't some BS they came up with after the fact.

I'd give them a pass for not having any of that in mind after Legend of Zelda and Adventures of Link, or even AFTER LttP was made. But if it's just "hey, this makes it all fit together", then whatever.

I think it's pretty cool. Like you said, at this point it's just fan service, and you both are right, each one is it's own piece of awesomeness, buuuut...I still think they could end up doing something cool with it...so long as it doesn't detract from the unique experience of the individual game.

I think that game's atmosphere was so effective because I felt like tidus, a fish out of water...link is usually a fish out of water because he leaves the forest to discover the world, but this world including his village or forest is totally alien to link.
