Sweet. I just finished a re-play of TLOU, which I followed with Left Behind for the first time.

The game is awesome and I'm looking forward to Part II.

I just wish Naught Dog games had better actual gameplay. They can tell great stories with great graphics and characters, but their actual gameplay is always lacking.

I liked the stealth in last of us and they built on that with uc4 real well

As we've talked about in the past, I agree with you. The gun play in Uncharted 1 is pretty bad but has gotten better with each Uncharted game. They started including stealth options in Uncharted 2 and 3 but it felt a little half-baked.

They pretty much nailed both elements with TLOU and combined them into something that felt pretty unique.

(The Last of Us Spoilers)

I do sit in the camp of people that wish this next installment was a totally new set of characters in the same universe (maybe even a different part of the world). The uncertainty of Joel and Ellie's relationship at the end of TLOU was something that made that story great. By going back to Ellie, they risk ruining that. There are a lot of fun questions to think about after the credits roll in that game that could have uninteresting, straight-forward answers with this sequel.

Or...this could be what "Empire Strikes Back" is to "Star Wars."

Sllie going HAM is going to be great. Best part of the gameplay in TLOU was playing as her and stabbing dudes from behind in David's town.

count me among those...also, a new time. there's so much that happens between the opening and the setting of the game...they could even go 100 years into the future. it would really free them up creatively.

the last of us was already empire strikes back level quality in terms of everything save for the stealth combat and shooting mechanics and AI stealth (ellie just walking in front of people not being noticed)

I really meant more in terms that "Star Wars" is a film that tells a complete story that could have ended with one film. I don't think Ellie's story needs to be expanded on but I might feel differently if TLOU2 tells a story that ends up being as essential, if not more-so, than the original game.

This really did take me out of the game quite frequently. What's hilarious about it is that Naughty Dog did a ton of complex work figuring out how to get Ellie to move with Joel the way she does (there is a video on Youtube explaining it) and it's still not as good a solution as simply having Ellie shadow Joel's movements. With a shadowing solution, you'd still run into situations when an enemy *should* see her but it wouldn't be as bad was what they went with.

Sam uses the same AI when you're paired with him and there is this one spot I like to hide every play-through when you are trapped in the sewers with him. When I stand there, the AI goes nuts and Sam has no idea where to go so he just starts running around in circles bumping into clicker after clicker. Takes me out of the game every time.

Also, I want this new game to have WAY more mixed encounters with clickers and human enemies. This was in the "Left Behind" DLC and it was my favorite part of it. In fact, I can't think of another stealth game that has the player hiding from 2 opposing forces other than the opening of Metal Gear Solid IV (which had very little gameplay impact).

It was fun I like plotting my path and slowly taking them out. I find it much more enjoyable than the kill everyone mentality of Uncharted.

Is it after you get separated from everyone and you are in the colony school area? Because he goes spastic there

I think you will see this for sure

FYI the companion AI in UC4 is improved

Same. I also find that TLOU does a better job of transitioning back and forth between stealth and action than Metal Gear Solid V does. When I get spotted in MGS V it pretty much never goes back to stealth mode until I've killed everyone in the area in a massive machine gun shoot-out. Is that more realistic? Probably but I don't think it's as fun. For me TLOU gameplay loop is:

1. Be stealthy and take out some enemies
2. Screw up at some point and get seen
3. Have moderate shoot out with enemies until low on ammo
4. Hide / avoid enemies again until I go back to step 1

Yes! I was SO hoping they fixed it for the PS4 remaster but he behaves the same exact way as on PS3. It's like he's having a panic attack or something. I don't see how they play-tested that area and thought, "Yeah, this is good." He would have been better off just hanging back and discreetly teleporting to the end with a trick of the camera.

I REALLY want to play that but haven't gotten to it yet. I'm so behind on games. I just picked up Bloodborne the other day. (What am I doing???) No idea when I'll have time to play it but it was $10.

It's really hard to go an entire encounter without being seen. I don't know if that was on purpose or a gameplay flaw but it's hard to get them all.

Yep , still does it. One time it actually did alert everyone to my location. I just molotoved everyone in one big group and it worked pretty well

With your schedule bloodborne was a mistake

I also picked up "Ratchet and Clank" for $10. I figured I could play that one with the kids over the holiday. Bloodborne...that one might not get touched for quite a while.

My stealth strategy for survivor mode: use the back door.

I hate stealth games and I'm terrible at them, but TLoU is one of the few games where I've somewhat enjoyed it. However, it's still more fun to blow motherfrickers up with nailbombs.
