The thread on the soccer board would probably be more helpful.

As an avid soccer fan and FIFA player, if you don't know much about leagues, players and what not I would recommend playing a few exhibitions just to get the feels for the game down before starting a career.

Are you planning on doing a player or manager career?

The guys on the soccer board mostly bring up really shite teams that have little to no budget to work with and are made with players whose overalls are like 60-68. So I wouldn't suggest going over there.

Start a career with whatever team you want and buy whoever the frick you want. They changed the way players progress this year and introduced 'training'. You'll understand once you start it up.

Be sure to also invest in your youth squad as the game takes into account the players prime years being 24-28. Once they hit 30+ their stats typically start to decrease.

Not sure how you truly intend to play, but the manager career also only lasts 15 years. It's not like NCAA where you could coach for like 80 seasons, unfortunately.

1) Bama fan

2) Horrible title....horrible.

3) My favorite sports game...so I'll help. Play lower difficulties and learn the controls. Jack with the sliders to make it easier if that helps. DON'T stay like that forever though as it loses the fun.

-DON'T spam the turbo/sprint button. It makes passes and shots less accurate.
-DON'T just expect to go on a solo run straight up the guy and score. It may work on lower difficulties but LOL at higher ones.
-DO watch how plays develop. Watch the player you control but be just as aware of other players and look for openings.

Only because it's different. I obviously wouldn't recommend that to anyone just starting to play FIFA.

I started my first CM with my favorite team. Those are the most fun.

Defnitely agree. I always start one up with City and buy young, real players for the first 2-3 years, but by then I expect to have 10-15 kids in my youth squad who when I promote, if they're higher than 70 overall they stay with me, and if they're lower then they get sent right to FC Dallas who I make my minor league team.

I'll buy up all of FC Dallas' higher rated players then cut them or just let them rot away on the bench.

My favorite part of the game isn't even actually playing the games, it's just creating two powerhouses of players that I've scouted lol.

id play a ton of the training mini-games and play on the lowest difficulty setting until youre winning 5-0 then move it up.

learning how to score, especially when its just you against the keeper, is prob the most crucial thing to learn early. dribbling and passing and everything else will all make sense the more you play, but if you can get a handle on the shooting mechanics early it will help immensely.

also, learn the shot fake/pass fake. dont know if its still OP in '16, but its been a go-to move for me the last few years.

I pick one team to send my youth players to as well. In my United CM, I picked Sheffield United. In my Notts County CM, I've been giving them to Bristol Rovers.
