From what I hear, working for yourself is scary and it's pretty rough the first couple of years, but it's worth it if you push through.

I started when I was 21 though so no family and such to worry about. I saved up enough money to support myself for 6 months and made the jump.

I had some structure still because I was a real estate agent which is basically like sub-contracting work from a broker. I took it from there and ventured out to where I am now. From flipping houses, buying rentals, getting my contractor license and so on.

It definitely doesn't happen overnight and I worked a lot for several years but now I have it fairly easy. I say this as my workers just left my shop with todays work orders and supplies to go work and I am back in my house watching Better Call Saul.

I wish I hadn't been such a slack-arse coming out of high school and going in to college.

Yeah I wish I would have gotten a useful degree but no reason to worry about it now.

why do you think I'm back in grad school? A regular college degree isn't enough anymore.

You sound like a job hopper. We are looking for someone that wants to be here long term so for that reason we can not extend the job offer to you at this time.

I would have probably gone postal on everyone in that office by now and then blew my brains out. I can't stand monotony like that.

I actually changed careers completely, I fully expect to stay where I'm out for life now. (before I was in a field I couldn't stand...) Besides, I'm just busting Sic's balls

ETA: Before I was Marketing / PR, which is my college degree... and I kept getting jobs at non-profits that are on a constant state of "lay-offs" - which really sucks because Marketing / PR people are the first to go, and it makes it way to stressful. (on top of me hating every second I did it as well)

Well, I've gone from a lowly field guy to a multi-purpose draftsman/GIS specialist who can also run a hydrographic boat and do river mapping.

But yeah, I'm pretty bored.

I start to wonder if you should be involved in anything church related at all. You complain about it more than anything.

I just figure eventually you'll end up getting canned for watching hentai on a church laptop or something.

Dude. I didn't know you dealt with GIS. That's something I really want to learn how to do. The application of it on battlefields is awesome

Do tell? We've been doing it for quite some time, but there's still a lot I'm learning. We deal mainly in LiDAR feature extraction on rivers.
