I got my "good" 2nd baseman from the Collection Random Card flip. Free agent is always a good spot to look but of late none have been able to be purchased with cash. Only 1600 gold and I don't carry that much.

Check free agents. You can spend (in-game) cash on them. Or if you're a baller, you can spend real money and get gold. Free agents are the only guaranteed way to upgrade a specific position. The packs just give you a random player.
