Why is there so much gear?

It's almost Diablo-esque in how they constantly throw so much gear at you. It facilitates the weapon/armor upgrade system given that you can dismantle items for raw materials, but it makes inventory management a pain when you have 5 of the same item all with different stats, and it isn't just different abilities either. It's actual stats like increased HP or attack power that is different as well.

Half the time I buy gear but when I go to equip it, I can't remember which version of which piece I actually bought. I don't think there's a way to equip right after you buy something, although I could have overlooked it.

Because you're expected to upgrade your gear, which requires the materials you get from dissembling them.

I haven't purchased a piece of gear since I was about level 20. I'm now level 50+.

The only time to purchase gear is to disassemble it for parts.

I'm also level 18 when it comes to exploring. I don't move on until I get every item in each place.

I'm right at the ceremony of suppression and the team's response. Getting close to the end game.

eh, I much prefer the simplicity of just restocking on gear every time you reach a new town as opposed to buying/looting 10 of the same weapon, breaking it down, and enhancing what you already have.

I would also say that thus far, Berseria is one of the least visually impressive Tales games I have played. I'm about 10 hours in and there hasn't been much of interest to look at thus far. Everything's just a forest, a cliffside, or a medieval village or castle.

I do really like the game though. It's a return to form for the franchise.

Completely agree. There are maybe two anime scenes, something I loved about the previous ones.

So, anyone try to kill Phoenix the greatest Normin yet?

Dude is level 100, has an instakill aoe move and apparently regains all of his health after you get him to zero.

Pissed me the hell off.

Well, it's the 2nd best looking Tales games out there. I still think that Vesperia looked the best.

I want to play Vesperia if it'll ever be backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Berseria may have the highest polygon count, but it is very dull to look at

I am very disappointed in the amount of anime cutscenes. Vesperia had a great amount and it really made the game even better. Zesteria even had a much higher number. The animations in this game just seemed a little lazy to me. Sorta like they just phoned it in.

The backtrack heavy dungeons are grating on me. I'm at Palamides and just want to shut the game off.

Beat the game this morning. If you are getting tired then, the final dungeon will drive you nuts. Once I could surf my way around, I just said to hell with it and went for the final boss.

Not my favorite Tales game. I still think Vesperia is the top.

There is a lot left to do, and I kinda want to complete all of the ship exploration stuff, but I have to put it down for now.

maybe by that time there will be actual guides available. I get annoyed by all the Youtube lets plays with people playing this game for the first time just running in circles

It is better than Zestiria, but I find myself not really liking the characters that much. Velvet in particular is a walking JRPG cliche. The game world is kind of boring to look at, and there's a lot of re-treading previously explored ground to get to new areas.

The battle system is pretty easy to grasp, but it seems like battles against random enemies tend to drag out longer than they used to. I'm not sure if enemies have more HP, if there are just more enemies on screen, or if my DPS just sucks. That brings me to my next point where it's really hard for me to keep track of what gear is actually an upgrade. There's so much gear to pick up in the game but so much of it has the same name as something else. Stats and abilities per piece of gear seem completely randomized, so some pieces of gear have really good bonuses yet crappy stats or one really good particular stat and other crappy stats. It's not easy to tell if one particular item is an upgrade or not.

I know anti-heroes are becoming more popular, but I don't think that's fair at all. She's a very refreshing protagonist for the franchise and for JRPGs as a whole. There aren't many characters who are driven for revenge, the results on the world ignored.

I like Eizen and Rokurou

Especially their interactions.

Magilou is annoying. I'm still pretty early in the game, I just unlocked Magilou to use.
