Just started this last night. Am I the only one playing?

I really feel like this is just about the only true JRPG franchise left standing outside of Shin Megami Tensei, Xenoblade and a new DragonQuest game every 10 years.

I loved Xillia 1 and 2, but I did not like Zesteria. Bad AI, convoluted game mechanics and a storyline that felt too similar to FFX made me drop the game about 10 hours in.

Ive seen the anime. It's a great series but I don't really believe its video game worthy.

I've been playing it. I really enjoy it. It's competing for my favorite Tales so far. I really enjoy the combat, skill system, story, and characters. I highly recommend it to fans of JRPGs.

Xillia is the only one I finished. Graces f I got stuck and quit, Xillia 2 ps4 made me forget about it and hated the protagonist, zestiria is just boring.

What's your favorite, other than this? I may get it, but I was so hyped to have zestiria on ps4 and was an epic let down.

I'm playing it. I'm about 30 hrs in. Good combat, although it gets a bit repetitive once you become strong enough. The characters aren't bad. Eleanor is the most interesting one.

I wish there were more side quests.

Does HP reset to 100% after every battle like in FF13? My characters never seem below max HP when they start a battle.

I've been meaning to pick this one up but I'm only 75% through Zestria so I was waiting until I finished that.

I've watched a couple of gameplay videos on youtube and it looks like I will enjoy it when I do finally get around to purchasing it.

I think watching the Zestiria anime might be a good way to experience that game's story without having to actually play through it since the two titles share the same game world.

I wouldn't say you have to be familiar with Zestiria to pick up on Berseria. There are similarities, but Berseria feels like a more refined take on the concept

If they take enough damage they don't.

Favorite is Vesperia.

By all accounts, Berseria is far better than Zestiria. I didn't hate Zesty though.

Scruffy is right though. I feel like the game is pretty easy. I recommend turning up the difficulty for it to provide a decent challenge.

Xillia was my first JRPG which might be why I like it so much. Xillia 2 is pure fan service. I liked it for what it was. I thought the protagonist was surprisingly engaging for not having any dialogue. Being able to swap out weapons to exploit enemy weaknesses was cool too. I didn't think any of the endings were very satisfying though, and the game kinda screws people out of getting the best ending based on some misleading text after the final boss.

I did purchase Graces F. The story bored me to death, and I never finished it.

I didn't like that the protagonist never talked in Xillia 2.

Will probably never get a chance to play Vespiria.

Is the game unusually easier on Normal or have I just not gotten far enough yet? I reached the capital city and haven't had to use a single apple gel.

I usually play Tales games on normal, but this one seems a lot easier than the rest. I haven't even done any grinding.

It's easier on normal. I would recommend anyone who's played action RPGs or Tales games before to play on Moderate. What makes it so easy is that you restore HP in blocks after battle. So if you only take 10-20% of your HP in damage, it gets refilled completely.

I hate the way they do gear in this game. Literally everything has the same name just with seemingly random stats and buffs.

It's the Final Fantasy IX system of learning abilities from your gear. I don't mind it at all, but I do think that some of the skills that too long to learn.
